BEHOLD!!! 87-93 2.5" Carbon Fiber Cowl FOUND!!

Ive always been in the hunt for a riser style cowl for my stang made from carbon fiber. Be as it may, I have already purchased and painted a fiberglass cobra R hood.

Alas! I finally found it! Too late now but perhaps someone is in the market to try something new (and let me know how quality it is). I have a black car and only really like CF on black or white cars. Some may think RICE , but I think its a step in the right direction when upgrading your hood.

Sound off- let me know what you think.

GOOD LUCK!!

it would have to be on a black car to look good...fox mustangs and their flat top fenders would make it look weird and redneck pieced together in any other color. it works on cars whose fenders do not come all the way onto the plane of the hood

exactly.. comin from the import scene to the ford scene, ill be d****ed if i see carbon fiber anything on my mustang!! LOL... pretty soon theyll have carbon fiber fenders and trunks and headliners and all that other garbage for the crazy ford owners to put on their mustangs :nono:

They already have CF fenders.

I don't see what is so wrong about it. Just cuz the import guys worship CF means it's rice??

What about all the guys driving around with unpainted fiberglass hoods?? Just today I saw a black SN95 Cobra with a white fiberglass hood. How is that any different than running an unpainted CF hood?? I mean they look the same since they are both cowl hoods, except you have one primered white and another a dark CF look. WHy is CF rice while the unpainted fiberglass hood is more accepted??

I don't see the big deal. If the hood goes with the theme of the car then i say go for it. If the hood isn't going to really match at all, then no

Carbon Fiber is less weight on the nose of your car which equals performance, if you chose to paint it thats up tp you.

I have a black GT and always thought it would look sweet to have a CF hood, stock cowl height of course.

All you that think its rice have to ask yourself, if a guy puts a 3" fiberglass hood on his more or less stock 5.0 (or for any other reason other than clearance or weight) isn't that the same concept as rice.

Domestic rice is CORN!

The only way I'd consider it would be if it was painted. The weight savings are great and all, but I'll be damned if I'll have any body part on my car that doesn't match the rest.

case and point!

Rice = spoiler on FWD car (for traction/downforce?) , non-aero (and ugly) body kits, titanium lugnuts for less rotational mass, and multiple grounds for added HP. Not to mention a few dozen stickers which are not used for sponsorship, but for free advertising! We could prob make a sticky in talk- what is rice...but to save time we will never get back, lets not and say we did.

Ricers have stolen practical parts for their mostly impractical cars. (non functional induction CF/Glass hoods, "NAAWWWSSSS" just to purge off around town, and poorly designed "cold" air kits (I once saw a neon that had a CAI that routed just over the headers ! )

Bottom line, when put on the right application, some parts work a heck of alot better on domestics than imports, and sometimes vise-versa. To each his own!

I am interested in the quality too. I have a red fox and think it might look good... worst case I end up painting it like a fiberglass hood. oh well... If it's rice I'm half azn so shoot me... BANG! hehe.

why get a CF hood and then paint it? makes more sense to save $ and just get a fiberglass one. they are gonna look exactly the same when painted. a couple hundred dollars is not worth a few pounds and the ability to put "carbon fiber hood" in your sig.

i think it would be sweet to have a cf hood like on the 4eyes and then paint everything but the traditional cowl part....ya know what im tryin to get at? So the usual flat black painted part would be CF...might look nice

Very good point. I was actually just thinking how that might look on a red car with A black wing, and Tinted lights all the way around. A buddy of mine has a canary yellow 89 GT, with a black hood, and Black GT wing.. on draglites.. looked really good.

I think it would look great on any car. Especially if you can pick it up and try it on for fitment, and save on shipping. I don't see anything wrong with painting a CF hood, it still saves weight and matches the rest of your car. On a black or silver car I think it would look great unpainted though!

no theres nothing wrong with it, it just usually costs alot more for CF than fiberglass...what are you gaining other than a lighter wallet?
