Best Price for SLP Loudmouth?

Has anyone found a vendor that can beat $399.95 and free shipping for the SLP Loudmouth catback (99-04 GT) from LMPerformance? These used to be $349.95, but the price appears to have jumped by about $100 at most places.

SLP changed their prices and rules for dealers. If anone sells it lower than that, they get booted from being a dealer.

Most systems went up over $100 retail, so the SLP stuff isn't worth the coin now.

Although I liked the LM system, I'm amazed how many compliments I get now without it. The new system is much better as the LM, after a year and a half, I was starting to hate and just sounded like ass to me.

Yes, what "new system" are you referring to? Do you mean the Loudmouth II, which uses mufflers instead of resonators? I thought this was supposed to be considerably quieter (and a bit more expensive to boot). Does it actually improve the sound quality? I'm not looking for quiet, because I will be switching back to my stock h-pipe for emissions purposes and know that that will quiet things down even further.

My new system is a Steeda/Borla cat-back which blows the LM away. The LM was just embarassing to drive around and I was sick of it, and it waking my daughter up every moring before 6am when I leave for the office.

the steeda cat back is just the borla c/b w/steeda logos isnt it? i heard one last week on a mach 1, and it sounded better than my LM. not louder, but close.

Not sure. It sounds different, but could just be that I haven't heard one with similar mods as me.

Almost as loud, but no popping, not obnoxious, just smooth.
Almost every customer we've had that bought the LM system has changed to something else or isn't happy.

Something to think about before purchasing. EVERYONE likes hearing it, but owning it is a different story if you actually drive your car.

i hate to do it, but i gotta agree with you. when i got my stang last year the first thing i wanted was the loudest exhaust i could buy. but after 6 months of the Loudmouth and catted x-pipe, i got the LM2's. they were quiet as hell at first, but after a week they've started to break in and are gradually getting louder. i think i will switch to off-road pipes and keep the LM2's. i'd love to get the borla cat-back, but the prices are too steep when i already have something that is high quality. just need to tweak it a little bit.

i didnt hate the LM1's, i really liked them with the stock h-pipe, but with the X they just got too raspy. they did have an annoying popping sound when just driving around. maybe with lower gears like 4.10s it wouldnt be as bad, but i wanted to make the switch anyway.

I did hear a Loudmouth in person for the first time 2 days ago, and I thought it sounded great. The car retained its stock h-pipe, so it didn't seem to have that raspy sound that people are describing. It might sound different under load at 5000 rpm, but my car doesn't spend much time there. It didn't seem obnoxious at all; it had a nice rumbly, crackly, crisp sound. Does this really get annoying, or is it just that interior resonance becomes annoying? I heard the exhaust from outside the car and loved it, but I was unable to hear it from inside the car.

I'm currently running a Spintech catted x-pipe with Spintech Sportsman mufflers. I loved the setup when I got it, but I think that the system itself is starting to go. There is an annoying squeak that occurs right at 2000 rpm, as well as a nasty, blatty, vibration sound that occurs at the same rpm. These are both new problems. I tried going under the car to see if anything was loose, but I found nothing. All bolts and nuts were tight, no part of the exhaust was rubbing on the car itself, and there was no internal rattling sound from the cats or the mufflers when I banged on them (I thought an internal weld may have loosened or something). I can't figure out the problem, but it sounds like a POS and that's why I have been investigating a new catback. I was looking at the Loudmouth because I have heard MANY great things about it, especially the build/fit quality and the sound quality. Borla does make a smooth-sounding system, but I can't afford that. As you can tell from my inital post, I'm on a budget and was looking for a good alternative to my current system without buying a cheap setup (MAC).

Realistically, what is it like to live with the Loudmouth catback and stock h-pipe on a daily basis?

the loudmouth and stock h-pipe is great for a daily driver. its not too loud in the car. i mean there is in-car resonance, but it wasnt until i added the catted-x that it got annoying. with the stock H its a great cat-back. its actually about as loud as my new LM2's, although they havent quite broken in yet.

I like the sound of mine with the stock H. My Son has the LM on his '04 GT and with the stock H on his it was a pretty mild compared to the catted X he has on there now. He loves it that loud but I prefer the sound with the stock H on his and mine and both are very livable as daily drivers with the stock H.

I have the stock H with the LM catback and I love it. I am a little uneasy about adding a catted X but I think I'm going to go for it. I am pretty positive from hearing around that it will sound great, but I'm concerned about interior volumes. I may have a lot of downtime for the Mustang and will have great opportunity to finally edead the crap out of the floorpan and trunk.

I'm glad I got it for around $345 shipped though, $400 might be a stretch for me. And I got the "new" models too at that price, what a lucky window

interior resonance will be an issue with the catted x-pipe. at first you will love it because it sounds so damn mean and loud. but like me, after about 3 months you may grow weary of it during day-to-day driving. i honestly think the best SLP combo is going to be an O/R X with LM2. i just put the LM2's in last week and they are starting to break in, gradually getting louder and sound real good. the best thing is the interior resonance is way down. i can actually talk on my cell phone while driving. my o/r pipes should be here wednesday and i'll have them in thursday. i'll update everyone then, unfotunately i dont have a digicam so i wont be able to post any vids.

The loudmouth's with stock h-pipe are pretty much perfect for daily driving. The setup i have now is pretty much the loudest exhaust i have ever heard. Its almost like having a straight through exhaust. i love it but may go to a catted x-pipe to quiet it down a little bit. hopefully it wont be too quiet again
