BEST CAI FOR 02 GT

hi, what does anyone think is the cai with the most HP. i want to get the most out of this hot rod before i get into the serious money. it is stock right now. i have magnapack cat-back already next is cai and pullies. then after that probably long tubes and a o/r mid pipe. any ideas would be great. thanks

JLT true cold air - I've tried several and that one is the only one that did anything noticable.

I wouldn't buy it again - it served its purpose as a bombproof intake for Nitrous. Next manifold I buy will be the BBK dual stage intake manifold - which was supposed to be out at the end of 08 - or the Trickflow manifold. The typhoon is basically a copy of the stock manifold with really short runners for good highend power.

I have tried a couple CAI's and always end up going back to the stock set up with a K&N filter.

If you do buy one, just make sure it goes into the fender. U don't want to be sucking hot air with a filter at the end of the maf.

My vote would be to buy a generic Summit reusable filter, take off the silencer and save your money. They all make the same whooshing sound and they all do very little. If I were you I'd have my initial mods in 4.10 or 3.73 gears and/or a short throw if it's a manual. Then definitely subframe connectors, and then fool around with the exhaust or suspension. But that's just me.

I agree with the JLT True Cold Air intake. They go for about $230, and are definitely worth every penny. When paired up with a nice throttle body and plenum, you will feel a MAJOR increase in power, even before a tune.

yeah - dropped my intake air temp by over 30 degrees versus stock and a little more versus the MAC straight shot aluminum hot air intake.

as most have already said, save your cash and put it towards a mod that will actually help. k/n, remove silencer, ride out and use the cash you saved for gears/ OR midpipe/tuner.
