Best First mod to AOD car

Have a stock 91 GT with AOD. Whats the best first mod? 4.10 and a shift kit?

Any one shift kit over the other? Ive read things about Bauman, Transgo, and Performace Automatic. Performance Automatic is considerably cheaper so I am thinking it may not be as good? I know I remember Bauman from back in the day, so I know they've been doin it a while. This is just my first AOD car and I don't know anyone who still fools with these cars to ask?

Baumann has pretty good stuff. I would also recommend a nice stacked plate trans cooler.

4.10/shift kit/converter/B+M Ripper shifter

if u have it out of the car, put in a wide ratio gear set.

I have a Transgo and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I hate that I don't have the option of full manual that comes with the more pricey valve bodies. Also, it can be a bit clunky on the shift to OD but I keep OD locked out most of the time anyway. If you really want it to rip you will need a stall but the gear and shift kit are a good start.
