best way to burnout in an auto and 5spd?

i havent done many , i'm only 16, in my 3.1 auto chevy lumina i just hold the brake and rev up and let go of the brake.

whats the correct way to burnout?
and when in an auto do i drop it in 1st or in drive?

umm .. if youre reving it up in neutral, and the droping it into drive ... say goodbye to your tranny.

its a 4cyl why are you wanting to burnout ?

if you really wanna burnoout that badly do the t-5 swap , get some really old bald tires....spray them down with tire shine....

drop the clutch and let loose.......... walk away a proud man

HaHa I was messing around one time and revved my car at my GF's bro, he's a lil cocky. He has a 3.4 V6 in his 95 GTP ... bought by Mommy and Daddy. So after I get out and walk to the house, he's revving his and I'm just like "Whatever." So then he drops it into drive at like 5K and I could hear it make the clangy noise and the FRONT tires spun. I was luaghing soooo hard. Needless to say a few months later they had to replace the transaxle or something! HaHa! He's real tough now eh?!

EDIT: Mine's a 5-speed. When do you typically 'dump the clutch?' When I first had my car I used to do it around 3K, but that was 2 years ago and it never worked real well. I'm afaid to do it now because my tires are really old and the sidewalls are cracking, I don't want them to blow out on me! >>>Is that possible?
Once I get some tires in a few weeks, I'll try it out!

I assume you're talking about in a Mustang? With a 5 spd, just rev the engine, dump the clutch and get on the brake quickly, before the car starts to move, then just ride it out...

In an auto, put it in 1st, mash on the brake, and just ease into the gas until they start spinning.

As for that Lumina, those things can do some nice burnouts. My friend has one and he can spin the tires quite well in it.

Without a trak-lok, you're doing a one-wheel-peel, which looks gay IMO. Plus, I don't know about you, but I don't have money to be constantly replacing my right rear tire. I'll spin a little if I feel like it, but I've never done a solid burnout.

FWD Auto Turbo... set the parking brake, hold the brakes, mash the gas until you see 12+psi boost, let off the brakes...smoke show as long as you want.

If you figure it out let me know because my 93' 2.3L A4LD can't even spin out on a dirt road FYI Reving a auto to high RPMs and droping it into gear (anygear) will cost you plenty of cash in the very near future. I bought a really nice 68' Chevy step side cheap because of this. It busted the the flex plate and almost destroyed the TH400. Let me tell ya that TH400 will take way more punishment then that transaxle you got in your Limon. Besides like Ash pointed out your car is a one legger and will look like crap doing a burn out. I always laugh when I see a single mark on the streets where people had been street racing

My a4ld can barely handle regular shifting let alone, burnouts. And you know hard it is to track down a T5 in Nova Scotia? I been trying for months now.

i beg to differ with that lumina thing, im only 15 and not even licensed but hey two weeks with no parents and practcally no supervision, you get board and start messing with the cars (left ALL the keys). I stopped in a little bit of water that had washed off from someone washing there car. Right in front of some idiot druggy kids down the street. I stopped and just floored it in drive. Leme tell you it was at least a 15 foot 2 wheel burnout WHILE i was just in overdrive. DAMN SKIPPY!
