Well i have 1991 gt, i just bought a used motor and dont know how it will do for the sniffer, the motor is stock. As for exhaust i only have the stock h-pipe and bbk headers Equal length!. What should i do, or what is going to help, and sound good? Will a new h-pipe catted and mac-catback do good for the sniffer. or how can i pass smog easily? or should i keep the stock h-pipe? i have limited money sooooo !!!!! :nice:

Exhaust is exhaust, once it passes the smog equipment, it doesn't matter how long the pipe is. However, it is not good for carbon monoxide poisoning because if you dump it under the car mid way like that, there's a good chance it will come in on you at idle. If a thorough inspector sees or hears it, it's the same black flag as an exhaust leak.

Ahhh... now I get ya... the rest of the exhaust is missing right? If that's the case then you need to go all the way back (or a side exhaust if you're into that sort of thing). My favorite? Bassani Quiet Thunder. It's expensive but worth it. If you're working on limited funds and just want a temporary solution then buy a used exhaust system from the junk yard or something. Just to get you through emissions until you're ready to get what you really want.

nope your wrong.....................for cars exhaust has to come out behind the rear tire and be atleast 1"out from the bumper..................trucks it can be cut off at the axel...................i wonderend how cars could run side exhaust like the roush and answer is if they come from the factory like that they are golden............

What he said about the side exhaust. I did not know that but I'd bet money that he's correct.

Decide first, if how agressive you want your exhaust note to be and plan ahead for how much noise you want to deal with inside of the car. Then do a thread search for exhaust. There's lots of info out there already about exhaust systems and even some links so that you can hear them ahead of time. Happy hunting. :)

I hate it when it does that :bang:

88stangmangt is right. I used to work at a vehicle testing station in Scottsdale and to tell you the truth there is no "better" way to pass a smog test rather than to have it fixed correctly. Yeah it helps to have your timing set to OE standards BUT if you go too low you will fail NOx. Everything is on a balanced scale and directly proportional. Little tricks only work if you are verrrrrry close to failing because it will swing everything the other way creating a failure in other areas. Knowing that California is a strict place on emissions, they might not pass you if you have those BBKs on. Some places are anal if you don't have OE or CARB replacemnt parts on your car (which BTW I don't think BBK is). You also have Evaporitive and Crankcase emissions that can cause a failure as well so even if you do pass exhaust emissions you will still fail.
