Here's the deel, I'm currently finishing up my 95 5.0 and want to get started on building a classic. I want either a coupe from the mid-late sixties or ideally the direction I want to go is with a 1971'ish mach 1. Here's the predicament I want to build the engine before I buy the car, kindof a learning excercise for myself. So here's the question what size big block can I fit into one of these cars and what transmissions will work (a c-6?) I'm looking for something in the ballpark of a 450-500 ci motor out of an old truck that can be stroked and forged. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

any 429-460 will work in the 71-73 mustangs, just use the factroy 429 engine mounts.. a ton of parts for them, they can handle alot of HP and they can go BIG... my 557 is based on a standard 460 block

I'm doing this now (putting 429 in a 72). Not a bad or tough project at all.
