BIG ****ING PROBLEM, NEED HELP NOW!!!!

So Apparently I was not told by the manual that there was a coolant drain on the engine too, I was only aware of the radiator, I undid my head bolts, and coolant went everywhere, more than likely ALL down in the motor as well, what do I do??? Am I looking at a new engine?

should be fine, why were you removing the head bolts? new gaskets i assume


change the oil and youll be good

actually Im doing a head swap, but so if I change the oil before I crank the motor I will be fine? how many times should I change the oil?

Yep, just change the oil before starting & you will be fine.

Yeah drail the engine oil, clean the coolant out of the cylinders, pour new oil in once the car is back together, yank the dizzy, get a drill and attach a 1/4" socket to the end, and run the oil pump counterclockwise for a few minutes. Drain the oil and put in a new filter. Reinstall the dizzy and you are done.

You can just change the oil and drive it for a few minutes to get all of the coolant mixed with the oil, then change the oil again. But I wouldn't recommend it.

aargh!!!!!!! so I go to drain the oil, and my oil pan bolts are not only rounded over, but they are on there SO damn tight that I cant get them off, with anything be it a wrench, socket, torque wrench or even channel-locks. Im going to go kill someone at the local oil change place tommorow for doing this, because of the coolant now the oil pan I got absolutely ZERO work done tonight, Im so pissed off right now.

hmmm i have a suggestion......
1) place right and left thumb and pointer finger on right and left earlobes.
2) now rub earlobes while saying.....

WOOOOOOSAAAAAAAAH WOOOOOOSAAAAAAH
3) DRINK A BEER AND RELAX

I had the same problem on my drain bolt so if your skilled enough try this but be careful not to go through the oil pan..... screwdriver and hammer thats what i used and it worked get a groove started and smack it one good time then twist off by hand.

4) when you get them undone take the bolts to the oil change place and throw them at whoever changed your oil.

use a small pipe wrench it will get any rounded bolt off i know believe me...then buy a new bolt at the local parts store...

Craftsman has some good sockets for removing stripped bolts. They could probably take out your drain plugs fairly easily. Just make sure you get the right size for the job! They're not that expensive either. I hope you have a Sears near by. Good luck dude!

Excellent idea here. I recently had to do this after a family members sig. other rounded off the drain plug. Took me a solid 5 seconds to have the bolt removed - those Bolt-outs are slick.

You'll never have to deal with all that mess on the floor again

if

You replace the lowest level block drain plugs on each side with those t-handle screw in/out type valves.

The valves look a lot like the petcock you see on the bottom of radiators.

Next time you gotta take off the heads ...........

You'll have a way to drain the block
