Body Squeeks

Hi all, wife and I recently purchased a '68 Mustang. Car is very nice with the exception that the body squeeks in the front end. I have tried to isolate 'where' it's coming from and sounds mostly on driver side. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of the squeeks? Any info would be helpfull.

Thanks!!

Nice purchase! Welcome to Stangnet.

I'm moving this to our classic section to provide you access to our members there and all their knowledge. :)

Good group of folks. Enjoy the Stang.

Either a ball joint or A arm bushing. We just had a 69 Mach1 that squeaked no matter what we tried. Found one A arm bushing worn out. THat fixed half the squeak. Nothing left but the upper ball joint. Even though it was not loose, and we greased it, still squeaked. Replaced it and no more squeak. ALso, check the spring saddles. Make sure the rubber is still intact. And as already posted, the rubber washers on the lower shock mounts can wear out and actualy fall off. That will squeak too.

If the upper and lower control arms have a grease zerk to grease the ball joints that is what you need to do. Otherwise, drill it, tap it and insert a 90 degree zerk so you can grease them.

THe upper A arm bushings should also have grease fittings. Make sure the bushing caps are tight if they are the screw in style. If it still squeaks after you grease everything, something is worn out and will need replaced.
