Man you can always depend on good old Stangnet for some grade A flaming.
I would just advise not to dump a fortune into it....and don't fall in love with it. Rust can be fixed but to me i'd rather replace an engine than fix rust. Also have you been under it yet? And i don't mean poke your head under from the side, i mean put it on a lift and look at the frame and the torque boxes and such? There's a good chance you have some frame rust if the body is that rough.
I'm on my 3rd Mustang and they just keep getting better and better. I don't think i'm ever getting rid of my coupe, but you NEVER know. Everything has a price and there's always a good deal to be had somewhere.

worth it? to me yes....to most of you probably not because its not a "5 speed" and its a little rusty... but to me...its a diamond in a ruff...a big ruff at that...you all seen what my dads car started looking like and the way the paint is today...nicer huh?

Congrats on the find, Ryan. As the owner of my second Regatta Blue 88 LX hatch, I can certify that you won't see many in that color. That was why I ordered my first one in 87, absolutely everyone had red, black, white or grey. They didn't come with anything but blue interior, so take very good care of your vert specific interior parts, that paint never works as well as the originals. Also, as you were lucky enough to find one that was never carved up by someone thinking they were John Force or Vin Diesel, I can only suggest that you will be well served to keep it as stock as you can. That car can make you money if and when you decide to sell, whereas every deviation from the car you found will begin to cost when the signs go in the windows. Collectors will pay attention if you do it the Ford way, and, no matter what you do to it, someone will be going faster. Your seats will be the worst thing about your 88, they are low and kinda cushy, the 87 GT or 89 LX all the way to the 93's are your best bet for those. The speed density is neither a benefit nor a detractor, just a management system. Again, congratulations, Indiana Jones couldn't find one like that!

it looks rough. really rough. like A LOT of work rough. But whatever floats your boat. I think you could saved a tad more money and had a nicer one. But then i look at the going rate of foxes in our area....and the selection. sometimes it seems all thats out there are gorgeous/expensive cars and cheap/junk.
Buying or fettng a new top is chep but shops here want $400 just to install. (one of the only things I refuse to try) Have fun and don't rush it. I just got a valve body and TC for my AOD so it should be alot better now. I have to have an auto due to my wife's MS. Better to have an auto than no Stang at all.
wow, the 5.0 fox's in my junkyard are in better shape 90% of the time.
