Brake Clearance Problem

I have the 13" PBR Cobra brake kit from Mustang steve, and when I went to mock up my wheel, a 17 x 8 Torque Thrust w/ 4.5 bs, the wheel touches the caliper, and there is about a 2/8 gap from where the wheel should sit flush on the hub. My question has anyone else ran into a brake clearance issue like this? If so What Disk brake Setup did you end up using to clear the spoke of the wheel? I would like to have as much stopping power as possible which is why I opted for this kit. I just Dont want to purchase another brake kit only for it to happen again. Thanks

2/8 gap? If you mean 1/8" gap you could put in a 1/8" wheel spacer and grind a little off the caliper. I have Explorer rear disc brakes and running a 14" stock wheel and it rubbed the caliper. I put the 1/8" spacer in it and painted the edge of the caliper with blue paint to see where it was rubbing than gound the marks off and no more rubbing.

Unfortunately at least 2/8, and I barely have enough threads on the studs as it is, and i dont want to front tires to be wider in the front then the back that would just look goofy. and I am a little uncertain about spacers. THanks for the feedback though

Is anone in here running 13 inch brakes with 17 inch Torque Thrusts? is so what type?

i've been running 3/8" spacer on the front of my car since about 1989 and haven't had a problem yet. i definitely wouldn't run more than a 3/8" spacer though. BTW, 2/8" would be 1/4". i'd say run a 1/4"-3/8" spacer and grind a little bit off the caliper to get enough clearance, you can get longer wheel studs too, so don't let that stop you. also no one is really going to notice that the front track is wider by less than 1/2".

If you decide to change brakes, you're best bet would probably be a Baer setup. Same calipers but the rotors have a deeper hat. Of course they cost more than the MS setup. If you go to the tech page on the Baer site you can print out a template to fit up to your wheel to be sure they'll fit.

Awsome, I will def checl that out. Well the rear tires are being brought in a bit so they dont rub, so i think you def notice the offset, Ill check again to so how much I will need to clear, I would def rather not grinf inot the caliber expsecially the "COBRA" part. Thanks for the info though
