Brake cooling ducts again!

HEy for those interested (I know there arent many but there was a few:p ) i was going to make some brake cooling ducting for my track days. Well, I took the cheaper and easier way out. When searching the web for inspiration I came across this...

...needless to say I couldent do it for any cheaper in price and thats not including my time for R&D. So I went ahead and got a set. I would have posted my own pics but webshots is acting goofy right now. Anyways for $75 shipped I got backing plates, 10ft of hose, zip ties and fastners, oh and some pretty good directions. Its very budget (the hose feels like vinyl not the hi-temp silicone hose thats usually used, and the plates are made from steel not aluminum or carbon fiber) but who cares...It's cheap and just as effective. The plates are top noch and as far as I can tell Anthony (the guy who makes and sells the kit) is the only one making backing plates for the 94-95 spindles. Anthony makes these on the side and so ther are made after you order them. Expect about 2 weeks for delivery but man its worth the wait. Sweet stuff.:nice:
 
Oh just call the number listed in the thread and if you dont get and answer leave a message. I called in the afternoon and my call was returned in like 5 min. so his service is good. Oh and he only takes paypal...but then again who doesn't have paypal nowadays.
 
Thats pretty cool, are you running the hose up to the holes where the fog lights go? Has any research been done thats shows what kind of temperature drop you actually see with these ducts?
 
well...just about every race car runs them. I've seen some guyz run inline blower fans so you get bunches of forced cooling even at low speeds. As far as mounting up front.... I bought some 3.5x6in rectangular ducts that I am gonna mount to the bottom of the bumper. If they scrape a lot I will prolly cut up the bumper to make them fit inside it, or just remove them when not tracking. However I dont think they will scrape too bad. You could mount at the fog lite location also...however I wanna keep mine...I just fixed them recently. I'll get some pics up when I do the install. I bought this stuff hoping I wont have to spend $700 on brembo calipers. Currently I burn away my dust boots every track day (so I have to go in and replace them when I get back), also my last set of pads Carbotech Panther+/AX6 only lasted me 2 track days and about 3k mi. of street driving the OEM PBR pads that were on before caught fire at the track:nonono: . THats $150 worth of brake pad gone in a year. I am now running the Carbotech XP10's and with the brake cooling I can hopefully get a bunch more pad life and stop burning dust boots. My first track day is april 14th so I will have some concrete results when I get back.
