Brake-hose-to-drum Fit Issue.

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble threading my new brake hose into my passenger side brake drum, the lobes of the hex-fitting are camming on my spindle, why is this not a problem on the other side? could I have a bent spindle? wrong brake hose? wrong slave cylinder? any ideas would be appreciated.
