was there a ground wire on the tank? I dont remmember seeing one, although there was a clip thing on the upper right hand side looking down on it......I thought it was just holding the wire down.
When you turn on the ignition, does the gauge move?
If so, the problem is in the sender. Drain the tank and pull it out to see if it move freely. put a ohm meter on t as you move it through it's travel. The ohms should read 8-12 ohms full and 70-73 ohms empty.
If the fuel gage doesn't move with the ground test, check the gauge, wiring or the instrument panel voltage regulator.
Exactly. Also, it is possible to put the sender in upside down. Make sure that didn't happen. You would know that pretty quick caue the fuel hose would be really hard to connect cause the fuel outlet would be pointing the opposite direction from what the old one was pointing...
I used POR15 in the entire trunk area, is it possible the tank isn`t grounded good cause it`s sitting on POR15? Or would it ground itself with the screws that are holding it down?
I`m trying Tim`s idea after while, we`ll see where that goes.
when i checked this post out last night, my first thought was "no ground to the tank.." do this first: run a jumper wire from the sending unit, to a good ground. if you get a reading, you need to ground it. you dont need to remove the tank, just trade one of the self tappers holding the tank down for a machine screw with a nut, and run a jumper from there to a ground.
