I was looking into getting a SCT X-calibrator 2 and getting it programmed. I didn’t know who to go through to get it… Bamachips or Brenspeed. Does anybody have any pro’s or con’s from either of these places, or who might have a better tune?

Both are great tuners, I don't think you'll hear any minus's about either one of them's tunes. The only differences I can think of is Bama will adjust your tunes after you install additional mods for free no matter who you buy the mods from. Brenspeed will only adjust your tunes for free if you buy your future mods from them. I bought from Bama for that reason.

Also, customer service is great from both companies. Bama, from what I've read, has been difficult to get a hold of lately due to being busy and he runs the place by himself, but he always gets back with you, just might take a little bit.

Like I said though, you really can't go wrong with either!

Scott, what kind of 1/4 mile do you run. I am planning on getting .410 gears and the tune. I am hoping to get around 13.1 or better. Is it possible.

If you're a maunal and practice for decent/hard launches, 13.1 may be achievable. Check my sig. A similar modded manual should be capable of better.

I am planning on doing a tuner and .410's in the next couple weeks. I have seen some peoples signatures and they are running high 12's with similiar mods minus the gears. High 12's would make me really happy. However, on the more realistic side I am looking for low 13's... until I get the Procharger!

Hey buddy, he said Scott, not kooldawg6!!

I'm kidding man, but yeah, 13.1 with just 4.10's and a tune might be achievable, but it would be difficult. You would have to nail the launch and powershift like a mo-fo. With some suspension mods and decent tires, it would be easier.

As far as what I run in the 1/4, I couldn't tell you. All we have around here is a 1000' long track, and the best I've done was before the driveshaft, O/R H, and CMDP's, was a 11.2 (remember, on a 1000' track) with a 2.09 60' on stock tires with no powershifting. I haven't run it since.

Hey kooldawg6, would you happen to have a time slip laying around to see what your 1000' time is then see what your quarter mile time is? I know that doesn't mean that's what mine would be, but it would give me a good idea.

+1 In fact, Bamachip's tunes are just as good, as if you had your car tuned on the dyno.. Just recently, I've had my 93 race tune checked by 2 different local tuners and both tuners not only confirmed that my air/fuel was spot on at 12.4 WOT but also informed me, that I'd be wasting my money, if I upgraded to their custom dyno tunes, because they wouldn't provide any further power gains than what I already have..So that pretty much says it all in a nutshell..

Both are good, I went with the Brenspeeds xcal2 & 3 tunes by the flip of a coin.

Roush auto w/3.73's
93 Tune = 13.31@ 103mph - 2.02 60'ft
92 Tune = 298rwhp & 304 trq

Other mods, basanani catted X and C&L Racer kit/maf, UD pullies

newebi question i know we are talking bama vs brenspeed, personally i haven't delt w/ either yet. but everybody's all hoped up on the xcal what ever but i like the interface of the predator. Do both programmers do the same thing? Could i buy just a programmer (xcal or predator) now from ebay and when i put on my CAN and corsa mufflers (probably in separate stages) get updated programs for my programmer.

thanks guys,
matt

You shoud be able to update your programmer provided they email you the tunes and you have the software and cable to hook it to your computer.
