Brock Lesnar may be out for good

For ****s and giggles....I'd love to see Royce Gracie in his prime vs. Lesnar.

My money would be on Royce. He'd duck the first punch and put that mofo in some crazy spider move and snap his arm.

After watching the way that Matt Hughes overpowered and worked circles around Royce Gracie on the mat a couple of years back, I have no doubt in my mind that Gracie wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance against a Monster like Lesnar. Brocks uncanny size and strength are only a couple of the major advantages he’s got over EVERYONE ELSE in the sport, but his speed and conditioning also rivals that of many of the lightweights of today….not to mention his ability to take/throw a punch…or kick…or whatever?

Lesnars fighting ability is quite frankly movie like. Every time I see him hit someone, I get a flashback of that line in Rocky IV where Ivan Drago’s trainer states “Whatever hit hits, he destroys!!!!” This statement has never held truer with anyone else in the sport. Even a glancing punch from this guy hits like a sledge hammer as we’ve seen now with both Mir and Couture. There are good strikers and strong fighters who are known for it and rely heavily on these attributes, but where their punching ability, strength or whatever is rated a 7 or an 8 out of 10 and their other area’s may be weaker, Lesnar scores a solid 10 with a punch, 10 with his wrestling, 10 with his strength, 10 with his speed, 10 with his durability. There may be room for improvement on his ground game and even a little on his Jujitsu, but everything else seems as close to perfect as you’ll get.

As far as Gracie goes…..remember....a HUGE portion dare I say the majority of Gracie’s ground game revolved around his ability to use his Judogi as the basis for so many of his submission moves and holds. Since there use is no longer allowed in the sport, he's lost that massive advantage (tool) he used to have and his limitations are quickly realized.

very well put, Brian. I have followed since UFC 1.

This guy is as intimidating as they come. Sure, he got tapped out with a leg/ankle lock by Mir, but he proved himself the next fight.

I'm not a huge supporter of the guy, but this guy draws fans to MMA, regardless of what anybody thinks of him. It will be a big blow to the heavyweight division if this guy is out.

Good point....I forgot all about that. The sport sure has changed an awful lot since those days. Now I want to go back and have a UFC marathon starting with UFC 1!

I think this is a good point. He sells PPV's and draws fans. Regardless of everyone's opinions against the fake wrestling world it has a HUGE fallowing. His successful transition is nothing but a positive for MMA :nice:

I'm watching Dana White live right now on ESPN. Brock Lesnar has been released from the hospital after 12 days and undergoing minor surgery for a intestinal bacterial disease.

He is going home and then will be sent to the Mayo(sp) clinic for further test. White stressed that he is not out of the woods, and might have to undergo more operations. Dana said that is future is in jeopardy, and they don't know if he will ever fight again, right now.

Looks like the big man might be back!
UFC President Dana White spoke to Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday and provided yet another update on Brock Lesnar's health status. While it was reported earlier this week that Lesnar was suffering from a bacterial infection in his intestines, it turns out he actually had a hole in his intestine and has not been 100% for an entire year.

"Brock was in big pain, he was hurting.... We don’t know if he’ll ever fight again. He had a hole in his intestine. The (stuff) was leaking into his stomach. That’s what was causing him so much pain. That and he had abscesses. The doctor told him he hasn’t been right for a year. His immune system has been trying to fight this thing and that’s why he was susceptible to getting sick.... We’ll find out more next week. We’re going to send him to the Mayo Clinic for a couple of days. I don’t know what to say. It’s looking better now than last week, but what that means, I don’t know."

Brock Lesnar is scheduled to visit the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN early next week for a battery of tests. His trainer Greg Nelson spoke to Minnesota's Star Tribune this week and said, "No one can tell, but it seems right now it's something he'll definitely recover from." While Lesnar's health being stabilized is good news, Nelson stressed that it's too early to tell if Lesnar will fight again.

Hope his trainer is right. Here comes the champ
!
Brock Lesnar’s longtime friend and Jiu-Jitsu coach tells TMZ.com that the UFC Heavyweight champ WILL return to the Octagon — within 6 months.

Rodrigo “Comprido” Medeiros, a 7-time World Jiu-Jitsu champion, told TMZ that Lesnar “is getting better and that is the most important thing … He will be fine and be fighting again within 6 months.”

Medeiros added, “I can just say that the heavyweights can stop laughing and get ready to start crying because the champion will be back soon.”

Lesnar had surgery earlier this week to repair a hole in his intestine. While Lesnar is still in rough shape and has a long road ahead of him, the outlook has improved dramatically from last week when Dana White was saying that Lesnar is “very very sick” and may never fight again.

he also had the H1N1 virust too. I can see the ufc stripping him of his title then making a big deal when lesnars cleared to fight again.

They will just do and interim title.

The biggest news in MMA has been that of Brock Lesnar's health. The UFC heavyweight champion's future is in doubt right now, which has raised the question of what to do with the title. Dana White spoke with The Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, and when asked about a possible interim title, he stated that he was, "working on it right now."

Shane Carwin was asked about an interim title bout between he and Cain Velasquez while posting his well wishes to Lesnar on The Underground. Carwin's reply was, "We are in talks."
