I was parking my car on saturday night and pulled my e-brake and snap! I took apart the console and saw that the cable was broken right by the handle. Qustion is, how do i fix it??? Oh, also, i looked under the car and i saw a part of the cable hanging right between my x pipe so im not sure what that is. how do i fix it???? thanks.

Sounds like it is the middle t handle thing. In don't know the actual name of it but it connects the handle to the 2 rear cables. 50 resto has them for $23 or something like that. I just ordered one myself.

Mine broke last week, went to the local Ford dealership and picked one up for $22. Wasnt hard to do at all.

On your E-brake handle (passanger side) there is a hole for a pin (i used a nail) to go through and lock the spring in place. It takes a little work to get the spring coiled enough to get the pin to the point where it will lock and you can then put the cable in.

I'll tell you that it is a pain to get that coil sprung enough to attach the cable because there is so little slack. I have replaced the cable and the handle assy on different cars. It's not hard at all, it can just get frustrating when that damn spring pops back when you "ALMOST " have it locked in. Put the cable in from the underside, above the DS in the small square hole , then use vice grips to hold it from falling while you turn the spring.

I tighten the spring by getting another pair of vice grips and locking the spring as I turn it little by little. Eventually you will have the cable hole available to attach. release the vice grips and wala. Just make sure the brake handle assy is attached when your doing this. It won't work if you don't bolt it down.

ok, i have it together, but something is not right... i cant get enough tension for it to work properly? any pics of how its supposed to look? When i get enough tension, and put the handle back town, it clciks and loses all the tension? make sense?
