What do actual Saleen owners think about a person building a clone? I would like to do everything but put the bumper number and the number plaques on. I just enjoy the challange in building my own car, and I chose the Saleen because its so sweet looking. I think that slapping stickers that say Saleen on it just advertise a great company. Just a thought.

if done right and tasteful...why not. However the only thing that urks me is passing it off as real. One of my best friends built a white coupe/white wheel clone and it looks soo freakin sweet.

I have the saleen s4 blower and proud of the cars performance going 11.9 my best trap 116mph through stock exhaust. I love and always loved the saleen look 99-04 such a exotic look. Since my gt is 6 years old and has 9,800miles on it and smells new yes perfect paint i ordered the saleen body kit from haney motosport and badging and stickers as well. My car gets lots of respect now cant wait till that kit comes in. I would say go for it, and dont look back

what do you mean by badging?

As for the others, i dont feel that a non saleen car should bare saleen stickers or numbers and most importantly not even hint to it as being a real saleen. It is distasteful to owners who payed the money to have an authentic saleen for the posers to drive around like that making the ignorant think it's real when it's not. The way i see it is i happen to like the new corvette z06's for their factory power and looks, if corvette owners who bought a c6 started slapping z06 badges on it, i wouldnt give them or the real z06s a second glance...

badging being 281 supercharged and fender emblems. Its worse for people to butcher saleen's with non saleen blowers in my opinion

I have one real saleen and 1 fake, no decals, but 15 years ago when i purchased it, it did.

I have no problem with it either way.

I think the saleen owners that get pissed are the ones that are angry that someone else is getting the same "wow" from other enthusiasts without taking the big wallet hit.
BTW, all the "posers" help support what goes into the real cars.
So, Goblue, do whatever to your car that you desire, if you like the decals and badges, then you should use them. If you want to add a fake bumper number, go ahead. Realistically without someone doing some research nobody would know the truth other then when you sell it.
You can't compare a z06 to C6, the same way as a 4.6 gt to a s281.
A standard s281 is not much more than a gt with a body kit and some suspension work.
When a z06 is a whole nother beast, which likely can't be duplicated for what it just costs to buy a real z06.
It's cost effective to fake a saleen mustang, it's not, to fake a z06.

I agree. Make it perform and look like a Saleen w/o badging and stickers. Besides, I have seen some Saleens stripped of stickers & badging and they look pretty nice; solid color and that's it.

do what you want. my car is a Saleen clone w/ everything mentioned above. the haters dont like it because i can build what they can only buy. the Saleen parts, like what was offered in the Saleen catalog # 1&2 is what kept Saleen making money. Saleen sold those parts so clones could be built & keep the company alive all in 1 shot.

I agree with 90SaleenSC do what you want and make it look as real as possible. Just when people ask don't lie to them. There is nothing wrong with building a fake. Just don't half ass it and do it right. And ofcoarse have fun building it..

i would have to agree with you on that, i would love a kb but i cant justify doing that when i opted for the saleen supercharger, it would be such a waste of money and a supercharger...seing as how i would have to hold on to the original in case i ever wanted to return it to stock...i'll just see what i can do with the series 4 and call it a day...

The series 4 can give you enough power to get in trouble. How much power do you need?

Jonsey good way of putting it. My buddy runs a 03 cobra stock eaton and runs 10.99 no cooling mods at all or after market tb. And for my s4 gt as well what we lack on power on my dyno we make up for it at that drag strip or street lol. More real world for thought 600hp plus kb cobra we have too on dr's and my car at the track with et streets my car was only a tenth slower to the 660ft mark so. If i cared i would show what this IV blower can do im just playing around with my car trapping a best of 116mph at 11.9. You 05 06 guys man they run like a mother.
