BulletProof Solution?

It is time to build a new engine for my fox, I would like to build a naturally aspirated Low 11 second capable powerplant while still keeping the car 100% street legal and daily-drivable.
My platform is an 89' coupe with the 145k stocker in the engine bay. Of course after the engine is in and running the stock 5spd driveline will be beefed up as well.
My question is, what is the best set-up for what I plan to do with the vehicle? I am looking for a "bulletproof" solution, an engine setup that is high revving and will take Friday night track abuse (high-rpms/burnouts/and flat-foot shifting) all while maintaining daily driving reliability. And I mean "if you see this car on a trailer, it's been stolen." Is is too much to ask to be able to drive an hour to the track and run some respectable times and drive home?
Should I go boosted? I would really like to come up with a setup that I do not have to worry about spilling its guts in the burnout box.
There are so many different setups/parts out there it is making my head spin... Any suggestions on a Rock Solid setup?

347, solid lifter setup, jesel rockers victor jr intake, custom cam.
I believe the heads were TFS high ports that were worked, but that i will have to ask him next time i see him.

I've seen this setup go 10.70@124, all motor, full weight car.
477rwhp that peaked at or around 7000rpm (maybe higher i forgot).

From his desription of use for normal driving, it wasn't the best car if you get stuck in traffic.

Almost forgot, It was an R block, he had previously tried it with a sportsman b block, but that block wasn't rigid enough for the high rpm, kept getting screwed up.

What do you guys see budget wise for this kind of build? I definitely don't want to break the bank, would it be better to find a crate engine or have a shop build me the setup? I'd like to have the motor(basically the long block) build by a professional as it will see a lot of 1/4 use, I can take care of the rest however.

I have been looking at the DSS Pro-Bullet long-blocks, 306, 331, or 347. It looks like decent power can be made from all. These are definitely some bux but seem well worth it for a strong and reliable setup.
I like the DSS 306 with the FRPP X-303 cam and 185 AFR heads....I know the little stuff(intake, injectors, timing cover, etc...) will add up.
I know the 306 may not land me with low 11s but it looks like a very streetable setup.
Anyone have experience with engines from DSS?
Thanks!

Really? Who builds some good crate engines?
Years ago I had a 5.0 with the FRPP Aluminum headed/B-303 cam crate engine, which ran great and threw down some un-tuned low 13s before I sold the car. Now the FRPP crate engines have besically doubled in retail price.

Nice! CHP has alot of great turn key setups that look like they are headache free. I am leaning toward the injected 347 with higher compression and more power... the 306 is still about $400 more..for less displacement and power?

Any suggestions on a driver friendly clutch that will hold a 347 setup on Dr's?

also if you are looking at a crate engine, all the crate engines are around 10k so i say for that price go with their 408 thats the same price and will make around 500hp easy and support much more power

Ah, time to start ordering parts...believe me this has been long awaited. I know I seem like a newbee, i've built mustangs before(87' LX, and 89' Coupe, I even had a brief stint with a 93' Cobra) but it has been many years and a lot has changed since my post highschool days of driving the old foxs' around.
I am hoping to have my new coupe nearly done by spring ( I have a long NY winter to work on it) I'll drive it for another 2 months or so before it goes into the garage.

Is the FRPP King Cobra clutch any good?
I have never tried it but does anyone know if it is easier to pull/install the motor and trans as a complete unit?

I appreciate all your help!
