Bumperettes on GT valance

I am starting to get the GT valance on my 67 and noticed the brackets that attach to the lower of the valance and go to the structure behind the gas tank.

I hate the bumperettes and do not want to put them in, but the bracket seems to need to be there as the valance is a fairly flimsy piece. How did everyone take care of the lower bolts that attach the valance to the bracket, those bolts are fairly large and are a phillips head.

Any suggestions?

On the 65/66 the bumperettes are replaced by the exhaust thru valance.

It doesn't have any extra support and it seems fine. I wouldn't think the metal would be any thinner on the '67's. You could probably weld up the holes.

sorry... mine is not this car... I have a new GT valance with the cutouts, but it seems to be a bit flimsy... like it needs the brackets that are on the back side of the valance to give it some stiffness. I am not wanting to put the bumperettes back on, but that bolt that is circles, is required to attach the valance to the bracket. I noticed that reen and a few others did not drill the hole and wondered what they did.

Maybe their valance was strong enough to be without it, but I dont think mine is. I could always weld the valance to the bracket but I figured that might be a bit extreme
