Buying 89 LX 5.0

Ok, well I decided to buy a foxbody after my last car got totalled. A friend from work is selling a 89 LX 5.0 its in great shape, its a 5 speed, i think it only has like 100k on it. It has a CAI, and a MAC cat-back. I want to get this car running low 13s or high 12's, N/A. Still has to be streetable. I have 2500 to start off with, what should i go with to start on my way to the times im looking for? Im already buying an Edelbrock performer upper and lower intake. What else should I get? I know a lot about cars and i know the basic parts i should get but im new to stangs so i just need to know what brand you guys suggest on each part. Thanks in advance.

heads, cam and good tires. With the tight budget your on i would just get the trick flow top end kit, comes with heads, cam and intake

well the 2500 is just to start off with, i dont have to get it all at once. this is just to get it running good and decently quick.

I've got about $4000 in my engine... plus everything else... $2500 is a good starting point though... go with TW heads when the time comes trust me. BTW I got an 89 LX too
