dont know if i posted in right section but here I was thinking about putting a C 4 tranny in my 93 vert instead of the AOD and was wondering if this is possible and what modifications would be neccessary

i've done it.

you will need to modify your crossmember by moving the mounting bushings forward. also, i'm in the process of finding out how to connect the speedo cable.

it basically bolts right up.

i used a hurst quarter stick for the shifter.

good luck, rob.

I have two Foxes with C4's, they were available 79 to 81 or so.

Should be a drop in. Remember that you have to have a matching set of the engine block plate (locates the starter), C4 bellhousing (there are several), flexplate, and starter.

I have all 164 tooth flexplate stuff, but either will work as long as it all matches.

If retaining the full automatic function, you need a vacuum line to the modulator. Also a kickdown rod it you want part throttle kickdown function.

C4 has the neutral and backup light switch on trans case at the shift lever.

There are two shift lever styles, with the arm pointing up for column shifts and down for oem floor shifts. If using an aftermarket shifter, either works.

My cars came with C4 crossmembers, and I modded one to move the crossbrace back to eventually fit and AOD.

Check driveshaft fit. With a 7.5 axle and a Ford racing driveshaft, I had to add a spacer in front of the pinion flange to get the d/s to engage properly in the tailshaft. I think with an 8.8 it should not be a problem. There are some variation in ds lengths out there. My stuff is all 79 original or 79-81 leftover stuff.
