C/C Plates Are In...With a "Little" Hitch.

Well was not a perfect day, but a self-fulfilling one at least...since the only help I received doing the actual work was from some posts and from the MM help line.

When I "thought" I was finished, I put the tires back on and lowered the car, only to have the top of the strut pop through another 2 inches Turns out, I forgot to put at least one spacer under the spherical bearings to prevent this. Per MM, I placed only ONE large spacer under, and one large and 2 small ones on the top....as you will see in the pics, the strut is up really high, but MM said the higher the better, so long as it does NOT touch the hood....which it doesnt! Took some time to clean up in the wheel well and paint the top of the tower under the plates.

In the pics...take a look at the dirty Master Cylinder, which I will be replacing soon.

GOOD JOB RC!!!!!!!!!!! That exactly the way i did mine, i didnt get the blingy ones though.

You have 1 lg and 2 sm ones too I thought it was too high. I have to get it aligned now..

WTG Rob! If you were not running the steeda springs you would have wanted to put the spacers UNDER the CC plate and not on top like you did... but you did it correctly.

Felt kinda good, even though I could have worked at work today, paid someone to do it with what I would have made, and still had some left over...But I though of it as a 'relaxing' day.

My question is: Why didnt the shop that installed my Steeda Springs and C/C plates have the strut higher, like it is now?

That's a good question Rob. It even says in the instructions to put the spacers under the strut if the car is at stock ride height, and to put them above it if the car is lowered. It all has to do with the length of travel of the strut, with a shorter spring there needs to be less travel in the strut before the bump stop hits or else the coils could bind first.

Only thing I can think of is "how many spacers come with Steeda C/C plates?"

They had ONE underneath (which had a sleeve that actually fit inside the sperical bearings) and 2 on top. IF that's all they provide, then it was installed correctly.

Looking good!! You can replace those stock strut nuts with some nice stainless ones from Lowes or Home Depot.

My CCs look just like yours man. Did you lubricate the bump stop? That mad it easier to slide up.

Yeah, and the funny thing is the closest thing I had around was marine lube, 80w, and in the Corral instructions, that's what they used

I only put a dab though..they said lubricat well...I dont even know the purpose of that, since you have to move it down a little anyway.

DId you have a problem getting the dust boot to slide over...I did...and had to cut it to get it over.

Shaun..do they have the nuts with the pre-attached washer, or do you put your own washer? ALso, need to clean up the treading....maybe Ill paint the area above the spacers black.

I just bought regular nuts. The washer isnt really needed because there is enough surface area on the nut itself.

I did, but it turns out that the shop that installed the Steeda springs and C/C plates had the struts way too low for the amount that the car was lowered. The current setup in the pic is how MM recommended it with stock struts and lowering springs.

Im not sure what you mean by that but I think you mean there isnt enough threading which as you can see in the pics there is. What size is that nut? I wanna pick up a couple and have them ready when I get the alignment.

Zach..The main thing is to just "clean" things and hide wires...which will come with the new engine down the road. FOr now, would like to get the polished/chrome firewall piece..I also like the underside of the hood blinged, like Onebad (Charlie).

Also, I need to either get a junkyard radiator reservoir bracket and chrome it, or take off my current one and get it chromed...That is a BIG piec of metal that just stands out to me. Also need to paine the base of the ps reservoir...There's still enough to keep me busy..
