I am going to guess I have the "Dreaded Green Dot" since instead of Drive, I have a Small dot and a Big Dot. So how bad are these really? How long can I get away with it, and it dies, would it be about the same price to switch to an AOD? Or how about to switch it to a T5? I like the idea of driving a manual, but since I don't have the skill, or the space to switch the transmission, I would have to go someplace else to have it done. How much would either cost me?
And... which dot is drive, the big one or the small one? I read somewhere that some of the Automatics had a mode for wet driving, where it would drive in second and third gear, to reduce spinning the tires uselessly, is this why I have two green dots?
That makes it sound like I am talking more about mushrooms and less about cars... anyways, thanks for the help in advance.

The green dots aren't that bad if you don't want to shift it yourself. I have one in my 70. I'm guessing you're talking about swapping in an AOD at some point. The AOD is more expensive then a C4. And after you get the tranny you have to get the parts to do the conversion. So it all adds up. As long as your current tranny isn't slipping it should last a long time. You can put a shift improver kit in it to help firm up the shifts.

As for which one is drive....the big dot will take you through all three gears. The little one is the wet/snow drive that just uses second and third.

The 2nd dot past neutral is drive. The first dot is 2-3. I don't remember which is the big dot...I never look at it.

If your only issue with the green dot c4 is manual shifting, just get yourself a 67-69 valve body and change it out. That's the only thing between a green dot and straight shift pattern. I just did mine last month and it is an easy swap. Put the shift kit in while you're at it!
