What parts do I need to gather up to swap a T5 into a 70 fastback with a C4. Auto's just bore the hell out of me so im sure ill eventually do it. And then in 10 years ill drop a 351w fuel injectred motor in her. But thats another story

You have few choices here, using a 5 speed bell housing and fulcrum adapter or use a 4 speed bell housing and adpater plate. You can buy the kits that include the trans mount and plates etc. or search for used parts.I personally used the T5 bell housing, stock driveshaft(it works )same starter, made my own tranny mount and 4 speed manual linkage.I sold my built C4 to offset the cost.

I used the T5 bellhousing so I could also use the newer 10.5 clutch. Parts you'll need:

-T5
-T5 bellhousing
-Bellhousing backing plate
-flywheel
-clutch pack
-clutch fork
-Throwout bearing (mine came as part of the clutch kit from Ford motorsport)
-trans mount
-clutch pedal
-hydraulic clutch or cable clutch set-up
-shifter handle to reach you(stock T5 is just to short)
-new speedo drive gear
-clutch to flywheel bolts
-pilot bearing

*thinking* I believe that's it...anyone else?

In addition you may need to have your drive shaft shortened... I didn't have to either So don't shorten it until you've actually done the swap or you could be paying to lengthen it

There are some good sites with info about how to do this

I did plenty of reading before I did it myself
Not a difficult swap and loads of fun when you're done.

If you will eventually be putting in a torquey 351, you might want to put in a stronger tranny than a t-5. It costs more to do the tranny twice(once now, and then again with the 351) than it does to buy a beefier one to begin with. Also, the Tremecs come out of the stock floor hole, and they should fit a car designed to a c-6 like your '70 pretty easily. Ask around a little before you buy (which is what your doing here I guess).

Good point Mitch, would you be referring to a t56 or something else.

I don't think the tremecs would work on the 69-70 cars without surgery to the tranny tunnel(I spent hours researching this),and beleive me my car originally had a C6 in there too. It is necessary to do it on the 67-68's and they have identical tranny tunnels. The t5 will be fine as long as he is not planning on launching it on slicks and power shifting it all day. I bought a T5 cause it was cheap when it grenades I will spend $1100 and get a G-force upgrade for the tranny so it will be able to hold up to 600rwhp. If you have any questions I just barely did the swap and will probably be taking the car for its first spin in a week or two.
