I’ve been fighting to keep my 89mustang smog legal but want to do some upgrades. Picked up some gt40p heads bare. And don’t want to build them unless I can use them and pass smog

You've already busted the smog legal part. You need all O.E. or CARB E.O. approved parts OR a place that will overlook (or don't know) the visual and will pass you on the tailpipe portion. Cali is really hard - Been fighting it for awhile now. Good luck!

Edit - That being said - I should illustrate it may be easier then what I came off as to pass smog with the GT40P heads. Just be prepared for some pain if someone calls you out on the visual. If you have all the smog stuff at 100% (Cats and Pump) the heads shouldn't give you away on the test portion.

My p's don't have the provision for the egr tube. If you're updating you can get 50 state legal aluminum heads and be ahead of the gt40's
