I need a favor. Those of you with the stock OEM shocks on the rears of your Cobras, please look under your car's rear tire and tell me the numbers on your Bilstein shock absorber. I need the numbers off of both Coupes and Convertibles please.

Here's the deal, I bought two shocks off of Ebay for a coil over project in the future. I'm not sure if they came from a convertible or a coupe. The shocks I bought have a purple sticker which reads 64 93 and CPE. There are also the following numbers in two lines.

2R3V 18080 AD
02240 6493W000

Now this is much like my coupes stock shock marking with the exception of the lower line is marked:

02147 6493W000

This is the only difference. Ford doesn't know and Bilstein doesn't know either. Can all you coupe and convertible owners tell me how your shocks are marked please.......?

Thanks Rogue Cobra, The numbers are engraved in the metal and are hard to see. They might be on the other side of the shock. Don't want you to take a tire off don't worry about it. Is the shock yellow with blue dust shield and what color is the sticker that says CVT? Might check both sides if you could though. One side I can see the numbers on mine, the other side I can't. Now the question is, why slightly different numbers if these are from a coupe...? I hate not knowing these things..........

Jordan,

Well, you are right. There are number stamped on there. I have a partial number from the drivers side --- "6530w000" That about all I could read, I not even sure if that is correct. I even took the drivers side rear tire off and still no help. Both sides are positioned so the only way to read them is if you took them off.

Both have the sticker that says "CVT" and they are white.

Sorry I could not be more help!

Man, you rock. It's a big help. I'm pretty convinced that the ones I have are from a coupe. It's interesting cause I was looking on ebay and found a set of shocks that have an entirely different number than my car's. I think the numbers reflect changes as the production run continues. I don't think they are different, just a way of tracking production runs. Just a theory. At least I can be confident that the ones I have are from a coupe and can proceed with my coil over conversion now. Thanks again.

You know that kind of thing is rather hard to read when these Cobras are always behind me...

Someone else?

;)

Chris , i find this hard to believe :D Any time ill show you mine  Did you fix the coil over problem or is it just a race only coil over issue ? Sandis AjE spindal coil overs are wearing a little funny too.

Sorry jodan i changed mine with the strait axle conversion!!

Spring rates are definitely different. The coupe's are 600/600 front and back whereas the vert is 500/470.
what kind of adverse effect is this going to have?

i am doing axle to IRS swap soon and i would like to know what kind of stuff i have to order and such...

Dont mean to hijack the thread, but I ended up pulling the struts and sending them back for a second rebuild. In the meantime, Ive bought some Tokico Drag struts and I'll be selling the QA1s. I prefer the gas shocks to the QA1 ride. Both are adjustable, but driving through downtown to work everyday I came to the conclusion that the QA1s dont belong on my car. Since they blew a seal again, the warrantee on the last rebuild is in effect... but I dont want to deal with these anymore.

Want to buy them back? ;)

Ive spent $1200 on front struts an coilovers now :( :nonono:
