Cam?

I'm looking to throw a new 302 with forged pistons in my '91 that will eventually also get a supercharger. I'm going to have my windsor jr's ported and polished along with the lower on the Cobra intake. I'm looking to stay emissions legal, and was wondering which cam might be best for my setup. I was looking at the Steeda cams, but I don't know if they'll pass emissions.

Unless you are going to get an SVO block or something like that I wouldn't run cam. An SC-Trim supercharger will provide enough boost to push a stock block to it's limit. Let the blower do the work. Unless you like the way a cam sounds.

No cam, eh. I don't mean to sound disrespectful but, no cam? C'mon, I was looking for serious answers here. I've been driving this car too long and on this board enough to know that there are better opinions here. So, anyone else wanna give it a shot? Thanks for the professionalism. :)

I would have suggested either the stock cam or a custom - I think 89 sleeper makes a good point, especially since you're trying to keep it emissions legal. Let the manifold/heads/boost do the work. If you insist on a different cam, I'd work with one of the custom designers and be sure they know you're seeking emissions legality. While the cam they supply probably won't have a CARB number, they can help you come up with something that will pass the sniffer test. I don't think the E cam is a good choice at all. It's set up for emissions legality in a naturally aspirated application, not a boosted one. Boosted set ups usually prefer less overlap (more like the stock cam; less like the E cam), and anything you can do to help the exhaust get out of the engine will help. The intake side usually doesn't need help since you're blasting the charge in under pressure. So an exhaust biased cam without much overlap should is what I'd look for. Check out the CompCams XE264. But first choice is custom.

Yes Michael Yount was correct by quoting me saying "no cam". (Meaning run the stock cam.) I figured I would give you an option that would be able to keep emissions legal very easily. I have a lot of friends that run Real Street and have cars that make between 600-650 RWHP with a stock cam Novi 2000 setup. But they run SVO blocks. Unless you are looking for the sound, or if you just have to have a diffrent cam than stock then a custom cam would be the second best choice.

I figured it would be fun to waste my money and crack a brand new block. Anyway, I figured that with 6 lbs of boost and something along the lines of an e-cam would put me in the 400 hp range, so I wasn't all too concerned about splitting the block.
