I plan on doing a Install of everything on the 5th  ... but i need alittle help on how to do this crap... I never opened up a modular motor it has been all 5.0s and 350s stroked to 383 hehe...i heard you have to drop the K member on the headers but am clueless on how to do that...no touching the heads right now because of funds $$$....The headers are BBK Long Tubes....The cams are Comp Cams Stage II 102600 Hot Street/Strip  .. And the springs are the Comp Cams Springs..Is there anywhere i can go to look up on how to do this????Cause i have no clue  ... I know i can do the headers but the cams is what i am worried bout... I dont mind taking the time to do them it is just i want them done right and everyone i called wants to charge lots of $$$ for them.. Is there a web site that will direct me on this???Or someone with EXPERIANCE to just throw in a hand and the favor could be returned...eventually i will take my heads to HPP but that is about 6 months to 1 year from now.... Any advice would be GREAT thanks

Here is an article for a cam swap. It was written with the intentions of swapping to PI cams in NPI heads, but it is the same procedure for swapping cams in any 4.6L 2v.

I am planning to do my own with a help of a friend who is a mechanic (or maybe vise-versa :D). Also, I don't think you are going to do all this in one day without a case of Red Bull and/or crystal meth. I have read a handful of times 8-12 hours for the cam/valvespring install depending on how many retainers you have to chase down. Then, the headers are done easiest by dropping the k-member and I just don't see all of this getting done within the same day.

my predicition is that the headers will be the worst part. i helped a friend do his and was ready to climb under there & release the jack just to end the pain & aggrivation. then again, it took me 3 hrs to put on a set of pulleys, so maybe i am not very mechanically inclined.

yeah i know. but i approached it with a state-worker kind of attitude. plus, a few beers here & there. Not to mention, that about an hour and a half of it was spent trying to get the alt. pulley off without an impact wrench. I have access to an air system, but i kinda wanted to see if i could do it without it. nope.

I guess we should take this to PM's or start up another thread in Talk since were hijackin your thread. ;)

I didn't drop the K member, but I have Jet Hots. I doubt you need to either. It will only make a few header bolts more difficult to get onto. Pull the motor mount bolts. and jack up the side of the engine you plan to work on about 2 inches. One side at a time. One of your biggest problems will be the oil dipstick tube from what I understand about installing BBK's. Don't underestimate that part. A lot of people wreck the stock tube, and end up buying a second from the dealer. The rest is not hard, jut time consuming. Good luck - Sounds like good potential for a nice RWHP increase :nice: Oh one more thing. Before you tighten down any of the header bolts be sure that all of them are started, and most of the way down. Then snug them all up. I tightend down some of my header bolts, and then realized others that were not tightened down with them were jamming into the primaries b/c they were sticking out. You'll see what I mean. Definately get a helper -
