I am about to change my cams in my 99GT. My question is how many camshaft sprockets, cams spacers, and spring retainers do I need. I think the 99-00 GT's has to be changed so if anyone has changed theirs please let me know. These are aftermarket cams.

You need the left and right cam sprockets, two spacers, two bolts and two washers (if the bolts/washers didn't come with the cams). Are you swapping the valve springs, too? If so, you need the OTC Ford spring compressor tool.

Look for the tool online - do a google search for OTC ford valve spring tool or something similar - I've seen them for around $70.00

As far as the sprockets and spacers, I would post what you need on the Ford Parts forum and modulardepot.com. Randy will take care of you and make sure you get the right parts and a good price - he's a great resource. I've ordered from him about 6 times without issue. Most of the time I just describe what I need, he posts a part number and price and I call with payment info.

Yes. But unlike my local Ford dealers, Randy actually knows his stuff.

For the original poster, here is where you can get the OTC tool. This is where I got mine from. Its the cheapest I could find.

Liberty Ford in Baltimore. Like was said, he knows his stuff - he's a racer, unlike the other "key punchers" you would find at some dealers. His prices are also fair - I've compared what he has quoted me to websites like fordpartscheap, etc. and he's always right in line or less.
