Can fox lake port NPI heads?

Porting

Usually, porting is porting. If they can port one head and have the "proper" instruments, flow bench and know how, there shouldn't be a problem.

PI and NPI heads are not different enough to restrain them from porting either one.

Compression?

I'm not sure porting NPI heads will lower compression though.

Usually, the air passage way is ported, not the cylinder wall or area where the valves are... With PI heads, swirl dams can be cut down to bring the compression back to "normal" when swaped on pre-99 2Vs.

i look at it like this: If i was to do the PI head swap that cost somewhere around $700-800 to do it right but it raises my compression to like 10.5:1 and then i can say byebye to the thought of a blower. OK i can take my NPI heads and have them ported and add a PI intake for not much more and i can still be able to supercharger the car without worries. From what I have heard is that PI and NPI heads flow close to the same stock so why not just ported the NPI heads and still be able to supercharger without ripping the motor down and sticking in different pistons...I mean dont get my wrong thats a good idea but when I set my budget I didnt want to have to break the motor down but instead push it close to its limits while maintaining a safe air fuel mixture and preventing detonation....I think I have set a good reasoning for doing this..

why port the non pi's  the only thing i can think of is maybe you don't want the added compression with the PI heads.. if this is not a problem.. get a set of PI's and port those..
That's exactly why he doesn't want to go with the PI heads. Besides....ported NPI's will flow more than enough for his set up anyway....so why drop another $600-700 on a set of PI's when it's unessary? Bigger isn't always better dude. :)

bigger is'nt always better is true depending on what he wants from the car... the PI head is a better starting point.. but after i posted i read that he wants too supercharge the car at some point.. so yeah i agree he should go with a good port job on the stock heads.. well that is if he keeps the stock pistons...

but if looking for the best performance wise without a blower.. i would get a set of PI's port those and get cams.. not PI cams... atleast VT stage 2's

but if i was going with a blower.. i would port the NPI heads (keep the compression down with the stock pistons) and go with a set of cams for a blower motor..
