OK I got a 93 LX. Its a 306 with an S-Trim. MSD ignition with MSD boost retard. I have replaced the computer, fuel pump relay, computer relay, and ignition control module (on the distributor) about 2-3 months ago, they all have about 400 miles on them.
My plugs, wires, cap/rotor are about 2 years old with about 1500 miles on them.
Here is the problem. I was driving the car last weekend, it was running like new for about 1.5 hours. All of a sudden while driving at 50 mph the car lost power and immediately began to backfire loudly. I gave it gas and it just sputtered. When I put it in neutral it continued to idle very rough and would not accelerate in gear. It continued to back fire every time I hit the gas and it was not very responsive so I coasted onto a side street. It continued to idle very rough like to timing was completely fubared and continued to backfire when giving gas. After I let it cool (after being towed) it wouldn't even start, just cranks and cranks.
Fuel pressure was about 35-40 when I trun the key on, I hear the pump priming for a couple seconds, no check engine light came on when it took a dump on me. I checked the plug wires, cap/rotor and they look fine (i was hoping just a burnt wire). I haven't checked the timing again, I wouldn't think it could just jump from perfect to sh!*.
Im not sure where to go from here, does anyone have any suggestions?
