I have a SN95 with which i just installed some mods. I installed P heads w/1.6 rr's, a typhoon intake, a crane 2030 cam, 30lb injectors, 30lb calibrated MAF, shorties, bassani o/r x-pipe, and mac pro dumps. The car has the smog pump and egr removed. The car had some trouble firing up initially, but would idle really rough with some feathering of the throttle. Now, after some adjustments with timing, the car will not even fire up. Everything turns over well, and the car even starts to run under its own power, but quickly falls on its face. Does anyone have any trouble shooting suggestions for me?

I am still running the stock FPR. The smell of exhaust smells very rich, almost too rich. I think more fuel would just make the problem worse. And I mean RICH. The garage becames consumed in gas fumes within minutes of cranking the car. It was making us light-headed.

wow I would think you would run to lean after installing heads, injectors, mass air and running the stock fpr. I think it's because you're running dumps that it seems like you're running rich but may not be since the fumes are being well dumped right there next to you. I'm sure your computer hates you right now but I would find out what your fuel pressure is like high or low then go from there.

is there any way to adjust my fuel pressure with the stock FPR? I realize the unit is non-adjustable, but is there any ways to get around that just to get the car running to work out the timing issues?

We have been using a timing gun, but still with very little success. Could the ECU maybe be freaking out so much that the car will not idle without assistance from me with the throttle? The motor is poping and cracking and not really wanting to run at all.

I just left you a PM but anyways.... I am still running the stock ECU. My car idles nicely but it stalls whenever I come to a stop whenever my car is cold. Thoes 30lb injectors are probably a little to much for your setup so if anything you would want to turn the FP down just a little bit but the stock FP should be fine. Go back, double check all of your spark plug wires, connections, vaccum lines, and double check the timing which I think is your problem. Good luck with the car

I'm still running a stock ecc and my setup is much wilder than yours. I do need a tune, I mean it does not drive like stock but its been over a year w/ stock ecc and I havent ripped my hair out yet. its mostly Bucking under 1500 rpms while drving and surging when its really cold outside with the cpu is in open loop. I think you should check your fp...just borrow a gauge from someone and see where its at. Also, did you hook up the vac line to the fpr. If not with the 30#'s you will run you crazy rich. Those injectors are crazy big for your setup that might have something to do with it too. hell I run 24#'s on my setup....

I installed GT40P heads. We are working on the timing with a timing gun, but with little to no success. The vacuum line for the stock FPR is still connected.

Go-stang5.0; was the car running really really REALLY rough when you first turned it over after installing your mods? I mean, the car will not really idle on its own.

Anyone have a recommendation of what my fuel pressure should be? Or better yet, what I would want it to be with the 30lb injectors. I understand that the injectors may be slightly too large, but not enough to keep the car from running.

I had a whole new longblock and I had to break in the cam and what not...so it was rough and messy but after we broke in the cam I tuned the timing and fuel pressure and after fiddling with it for about a week or so i got the idle, fp and timing to where it drives best and idles best. My motor still idles at 700 rpms...even though it shakes quite a bit cuz of the lopey cam. If I can get it to run that good than you shouldent have to get a chip to get your car to run...Whats your idle set at?

we upped the idle in an attempt to get the car to fire and run, so I do not know exactly what the idle is set at right now. When I say rough, I mean the car kicks and spits and snarles. It sounds like a pro-modified drag car. Do you think it would be doable to have this car at least driveable by Friday afternoon?

I don't have as modded of cars as some that have replied, but I have the stock eec w/my mods. Before the heads and cam, seemed like my car liked fp around 38 psi, and after my heads and cam, had a hard time starting and had no power. When I increased fuel pressure, picked up a good amt. I have usually run timing around 12-14 w/stock heads and cam and after the swap, whats your timing at?? I run stock eec w/the fms extender, but that really doesn't help me w/driveability. I would recommend you run a fpr, and try messing w/fp and timing. Also I had some problems w/my maf, if you have a stock maf and injectors, maybe try putting those back on just to see if the car would start???
