Car feeling sluggish at the track with 4.10's...HELP

Recently I just took my car to the track. It's an 89 LX 5.0, I have equal length shorty headers, catless H pipe, Flowmasters, pulleys, Cobra intake manifold, 65mm TB, 73mm mass air, 1.6 roller rockers, TKO 500 tranny, King Cobra clutch and a set of 4.10's. The car just felt really bad at the track, I came to find out it had a bad plug that night, but after changing it, it didn't feel too much different. I've heard that 4.10's are just too big for the car and 3.73's or 3.55's perhaps would waken it up more. any suggestions on this? I had HORRIBLE 60ft times no matter how I came out, I spun like crazy.

that will explain lazy et's. was it just slow in the et's or overall it didn't pull like normal?

The truth is you don't have a whole lot in the motor department to begin with. Maybe 205 to 220 at the wheels. Couple that with a complete lack of suspension mods and you won't have times much better than stock. Get some high quality rear lower control arms, adjustable struts and some drag radials and you might knock some pretty decent time off of your 1/4 and 60 foots.

You need traction. Try BFG Drag Radials or ET Streets. You will be amazed. Keep the gears. Been there done this.

I have boxed control arms upper and lower, Koni adjustable struts, and Ford Motorsport springs, subframe connectors, adjustable CC plates, K brace... I know slicks will help a lot! I didn't get traction through 1st at all no matter how I came out of the hole, spun through most of 2nd too...now just to pick up a pair of slicks and see how it goes again.

Ditch the lowers. I put the Steeda Aluminum LCAs on my car and it helped a lot. It used to spin wildly in first and second and if I wasn't real careful it would suddenly hook up and jump violently sideways. I put the Steedas on it and it still spins in first but now it just chirps and hooks up going into second. Drag radials are on a long list of mods I still need to do.

With your mods and 4.10 gears, your car should rev like crazy. My car would spin through 3rd, with the addition of the M/T ET street radials my car could launch at 3000rpm with almost no spin just a light chirp(completely stock suspension). Good luck

Yea, it revs like a son of a bitch. I took the car out tonight after doing a few minor adjustments and I was cruising in 2nd around 2500 and punched it and the tires just lit up. SOOOOO after my total loss of traction, I need to invest in slicks or drag radials for sure. What is best to launch at on slicks? I need an aluminum driveshaft I know that for sure, I already twisted a stock one once.
