im stuck in myrtle beach right now bc something happened to my car last night and im not sure what.i got on it in 2nd gear and then it started making wierd noises so i left off and pulled in the first place i saw and shut it off.at first i thought i blew a plug out but i checked them all and they all seat tight no problems.its very lopey right now like its missing and making kinda a jingling sound and it almost sounds like it has an exhaust leak too.no smoke or leaking and fluids.i dont understand what it could be.no signs of anything wrong until it happend.when i pulled the plugs i did notice that the far rear cylinder on the pass side looked wet and smelled like gas,the rest did not? any ideas? am i having ptv contact and if so how could that suddenly be? need help ASAP.THANKS

If you went past the redline, you probably had PTV interference, and at least bent a valve or two. They will stick, and kick the cam followers off. If you remove the valve covers you will be able to see if that happened. If a follower is off, then this is going to be a head-removal job to replace the bent valves, probably the guides which are brittle and break when the valve gets bent, probably replace the follower(s) that got kicked off, and you have to check to make sure that all you have is a small ding in the piston crown, nothing serious-looking...

We did this at the race track a couple of months back and bent 4 valves. Drove it home just fine although it was pretty weak, but it could run 60-65 with no problems except on a few steeper hills. It sounded "wrong", and as we discovered it was "wrong" internally. Missed a shift and that's all it takes.

Damn man!!! That sucks. I posted on the thread on the Mustang Week forums.

Carolina Speed Shop does great work, but they are in Conway, which is about 20-25 mins from the beach depending on traffic.

They specialize in GM, but they have worked on alot of Mustang's and they are great at what they do.

(843) 347-6555 is their number. Only problem is I don't know if they are open on Sundays, which can be said for most/all shops.

There is a Ford dealer pretty close to downtown, Beach Ford, but that would be a last resort as they will butt-rape with labor.

Just don't expect this to be a $300 job. Nor a $500 job. And I'd bet there is more than a valve spring. The good news is all the cost is getting the heads off, as in many hours of labor. A valve is cheap. Local cylinder head place will replace and ream a valve guide for $10 bucks a guide part included. So the parts won't cost much. But the labor...
