i installed my fan and 160amp alternator.went around the block to test her out and the car just killed halfway around the block. let it sit for 15 min. then started up, drove couple more blocks and then kills.im thinking it could be my TFI coil because when i touched it it was real hot.but it is also a brandnew eccel distributer and tfi coil, know more then 50miles on it.any other ideas.

i might try it again - take a bag of peas from the freezer with you. when it dies, put the peas on the TFI and see if it comes back to life.
could be a bad new coil too.
good luck.

That was happening to my Stang a while back, I was really stumped and could'nt figure it out. Come to be it was the ignition module was loose and all I had to do was tighten it.

im not sure, but i would bet you can mix-match brands - they all should do the same thing.

Listen for your fuel pump, it can sometimes have the same symptoms. The same thing happened to a customer I had. He changed the TFI module twice before he figured it out.

I had the same problem with an Accel TFI. swapped it out for a motorcraft one and it worked perfectly...until it died...But then I got a new one and that one was fine, until it died.....hmmmm

Make sure you have the proper amount and correct kind of compound under the module also.
