Whenever i let my car sit over night or for an extended period of time and try to start it then it will crank and crank and crank and nothing, then i try again a few seconds later it will do the same thing then it will crank and crank and crank then will finally fire. Could this be a clogged fuel filter? Any ideas?

stator aka distributer pick-up aka hull effect sensor....i had troubles like you are describing to me, for a month or so and my mechanic couldnt figure it out, i had to buy a repair manual for my car and i looked through the schematics and voilla...i found the problem...the way i isolated it, was when i had troubles with it, i would open the dizzy and spray contact cleaner on the sensor, to cool it down and it would fire every time, the next time i turned the key. does it usually happen when it is hot?

well, when it cranks and wont fire, have you checked to see if you are missing fuel or spark?

good luck.
