I am posting this up for a buddy of mine that I have to go pick up at 5pm est. He drives a 2001 gt auto with about 41k on the odometer.

For the past week he has had trouble starting and keeping the car started. THis morining he had trouble starting but was able to get it started by standing on the gas and then getting into traffic to keep it going. Yet at lunch, he goes outside and can get the car to turn over, and stay running for a couple of seconds with the gas to the floor. As soon as he let's off it falls flat on its face.

Any suggestions before 5 pm are greatly appriciated as i will be leaving to pick him up.

Thanks

Blue

Possible soulutions

Isn't this a duplicate thread title from just yesterday?

after about an hour cleaning everything from mass air to iac and checking fuel switch. we got it going. it still runs rough though. My buddy needs a new air and fuel filter. He lets minor things like that pile up and ends up with a major problem. We went out for beer afterwards.

Thanks Nater i believe that it was mainly the IAC that was encrusted with crud and sludge. Nothing a bit of throttle body cleaner wouldn't fix.
