That F'n blows, man.. I know how you feel when you are in shock and upset, like you are scared half to death and pissed and depressed, all at once. Maybe it will make you feel better to hear my wreck story...
Back in December 2000, I had only had my car for 6 months. I was on my way home from the mall, car loaded down with Christmas presents for everyone.. I'm talking the trunk was stuffed, and the back seat, and the passenger seat up front. Pouring rain, (This is Oregon after all) I got on the highway and was going 40-45, wipers at full speed, "Enter Sandman" in the CD player, everything's cool. I was in the center lane of a 3-lane highway. This jacka$$ in a white Explorer rips past me on the left side, without hardly looking--and not signalling--he cuts right across 3 lanes directly in front of me to make his exit. I had glanced at that idiot to make sure he was gone, and when my eyes looked straight again, traffic in all 3 lanes ahead had suddenly, randomly stopped. You know sometimes it does that, like the accordian effect. Well, I'm still going 45, on a drenched road, all I could do was lock up my non-ABS brakes and hold on while I slid into the back of a Dodge Caravan. Both airbags went off, the hood was crumpled up like tinfoil, lights were shattered. All the Dodge had was a broken bumper. Started the car back up, drove to the side of the road in the pouring rain. Opened the door and it made this loud popping sound because the front panels were shoved back and the door was hitting them. Fortunately the Dodge driver had seen the whole thing in his mirror, told the cops yeah, some idiot cut him off, no ticket for me. But I was on foot for Christmas.. State Farm neglected to tell me that I didn't have rental on my policy. Didn't get the car back until after Valentine's Day 2001, with over $7000 in damage repaired. So, yeah, car wrecks really suck, is the moral of this story.

Airbags could be the difference in the insurance totalling the car or not. It was in my case.

I would've been pissed that the guy in the Chevy tried lying to the cops. People like that should get the chair out of principle. Usually you learn not to lie when you're ****ing four years old.
The girl that hit me told the truth about everything, so I just let the insurance handle it all. But if someone tried that lying crap on me, I'd call one of those ambulance chaser's and make their life a living hell.

This is very true.
They estimated the damage on my car as being $7,000(the airbags alone would've been $2500). When I heard they decided this and that they were totalling the car, I was like, "Oh crap, I'm getting less than $7,000." But I actually got $9k for a 2001 V6 Mustang with 80k miles. It was cheaper for them to buy my car for $9k, and sell the parts than it was for them to just shell out $7k in repairs.
That was two months ago. Someone else here posted that they just traded their '03 V6 with 67K miles for only $7,000. I really came out of top, and I never even had to deal with my own company so my rates didn't go up.
It'll all work out. I got my '95 for $4900 since I only have a year of school left and I didn't want to go into debt; the car is awesome and I couldn't be happier with it. It just took some patience for things to pan out.

Well, obviously new hood & front bumper & headlights & radiator, plus repainting.. possibly may have to straighten the frame; they did on mine after my wreck, and I hit the Dodge straight on. Oh, you might as well grab the chrome pony out of the grille, let them buy you a new one. I grabbed mine from the wreckage & it's above my monitor now, as a reminder of the wreck, since the bottom of his front hoof is broken off.

Doesn't look too bad. The bumper still lines up. Is the radiator mount okay? How do the crumple zones look under the hood? Doesn't look like they would've flexed much.

Wow man that sucks. I dont know if i would consider that totalled or not. i guess the decision is already made though. Hope you get another one to replace it.

I dont want to sound greedy or anything but would it be possible and how much would you want in order to pull off the scoop and send it to me?

YOUR CAR

If the insurance wants to total your car I will buy it from you, & you can keep anything and everything that you want,I just want the body. I don't even need the suspension, k member, wheels ...things like that. But It does suck that your car got wrecked, my 88gt got stolen by a drunk one night and wrecked I feel your pain!
