Car's Done!! New Pics!!! New Problems :(

I guess I'm pretty lucky as far as oil leaks go. As the original engine never leaked a drop and my new engine is the same way so far.

I am not so lucky with other things though. Instead I've got lifters that have decided to become very noisy and the newfound power I had for the first two weeks I ran my new engine is also gone. I verified what I suspected last night when I run my car in the 1/8 and it over 2mph and .2 since my last run.

Well it's time to start a new thread about my newfound problems. Good luck with the oil leak. I hope it turns out to be a easy fix for ya. The new mods look great too!!!

Pushing oil out could also be the by-product of higher cylinder pressures... due to generating more HP.

Not to mention you could also be pressurizing the crankcase (through the PCV valve, if you're running one) with the S/C. If so, try a PCV valve from a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Also, the 2nd Gen Mazda RX7 (turbo OR non turbo) used a "one way" valve in the line between the intake manifold and brake booster. Those are REALLY good at keeping pressure out of the CC.

Just something to consider. Good luck!!!

When do you think the car will go up in the air? Curious to see what it is. Like a few others, Im leaning toward the rear lower intake seal. Do you know if the builder used the cork strip gasket or laid down RTV? Combo of both?

It was a combo of both but there is a big gap there on the back of the 351 and was just not enough RVT and thats where the leak is from. Not the Rear Main so thats really good. He tried to just put some more on the back of the intake hoping it would be enough to stop it but it was not so its back in the shop now getting the rear of the intake redone.

Here is some video I took today. The second was taken on a closed course by a professional driver :D

Builder here.. It's the lower intake gasket. The space between the block and the lower intake on this trick flow piece is a little bigger than some other intakes that I've installed. I just didn't lay down a thick enough bead of silicone.:nonono:. I'll fix it up tomorrow and she will be all set. The car pulls really nice!!!! I put her through a good test drive after I was done:D. Lets just say that the rpms I was hitting, he won't have to worry about piston to valve clearance...:D

Nice to know

Thanks for getting it back in the shop so quick, it was just one of those things not like its your fault or anything. You need to build up another one, getting sick of going to the track by myself all the time.

Videos are posted on the last post of the previous page

IIRC the GT had a strut tower brace...cobra did not...and the R had a strut tower brace. The R spec one is probably thought of as custom made...if not for the few R's or for the fact it was for a 351 95 mustang. Would not suprise me if it was a custom roush piece.

Im glad youre happy with the performance.

I HATE LEAKS!!!

What a PITA.

I myself have TWO full days planned next week....Tuesday and Saturday.. Hoping to fire it up on Sat!!!!

Thanks
RC

Seems like there are quite a few of us who all have projects finishing up at around the same time. Myself, you, Pokageek, (sure Im forgetting someone to)

Its a very exciting time for the 94/95 Stangs :D

I thought that may well be it due to the amount of oil leaking and the fact that the intake was off. A buddy of mine observed the exact same thing with his TF intake, he had to use a super thick bead to get it to seal, his had like a 1/4" gap! YIKES!

Hey Redline notice you have a breather on VCs do you have the PCV plugged? I'm looking to put an oil separator between the PCV and intake so just curious. I also dig thos VCs. I plan to get the Cobra ones but wasn't sure if they'd clear the RR studs. Those VCs are for a carb car right?

Thanks for any info.

Im not sure if the covers are for a carb or not, it does not say on the summit site but I have seen them in the carb section of VC in Mustangs Unlimited Mags. I still have the PCV hooked up, Its only 1 breather that Im running.

I had cobra VC's on it before and it cleared my 1.7's

Yep on a TFS R intake and AFR heads I will pretty much use an ENTIRE thing of black RTV on the front and rear intake rails. The TFS just sits up a tad bit higher.

Just as a forewarning for myself...we are planning on firing up the car next weekend. How is the fitting between the AFR 185's and the Holley? With everything being yanked and changed, I will have a LOT of places to be checking for leaks when finished.

Thanks
RC

Wish I had known all of that before hand :(

I just went down to the garage after it sitting from 4:00 yesterday and there's still about 5 small drops ( about quarter size) of oil. not sure if that's what was left that may have just dripped off the back of the motor or not. I put my hand down on the lower intake and I can feel where the RVT bead is but I did not notice any new oil seeping out. I'll tke it out later today and see how it is from there.
