Cat Converter question

nope, i have a 98 GT thats a federal car and it has 6 cats. just remember that if you want to drive your car on any public road in the US you cannot remove, modify, or disable any of those cats. however only CA and some other states choose to enforce that.

its just because they wanted to make sure that the cars passed smog tests. like on my 98 when i run it on a dyno, it blows 0 HC, 0 NOx, and 0 CO out the pipes.
 
Yeah, those 96-98 GT's come with 6 cats stock. My 2001 only had 4 cats stock. If you want my honest opinion, get a hi-flow X or H-pipe instead. If it's only hi-flow and not off-road, it will only have 2 hi-flow cats but will still be smog legal. If you're in California though, you might have a problem getting away with that.

Beats doing what I did. I ended up having to buy a pair of Mac Hi-flow cats and have them welded into my prochamber. The prochamber alone was around 240 dollars and the cats were over 300. Add that to the price of the install for the converters to be cut and welded in...well, you do the math. :nonono:
