I posted several weeks ago about one of the cats on my MRT H-pipe going bad and was rattling terribly. The guys at MRT sent me a new cat to have welded in place since the cat was still under warranty. Before the new cat arrived, I had almost completely stopped driving the car because the rattle was so annoying.
The day the cat arrived I drove the car on a short trip to the store just to keep the battery charged up. On the way, the rattle got *really* loud, and then suddenly quiet and shortly thereafter the SES light came on. I think this is when the cat guts when down the H-pipe and into the cat back.
I took it home and disconnected the back of the H-pipe from the catback. Sure enough there were pieces of ceramic stuff in the H-pipe and in both catback sections. I think I managed to get about half of the pieces out of the catback by kindof fishing them out with a long skinny pick-up tool I have.
There are peices still in the mufflers. Anyone have any good ideas about getting them out??? The catback is stock so it doesn't come apart.
Lesson learned - if the cat starts rattling get it fixed quickly before it spews.
Anyhow, I got the new cat welded in yesterday and the old one was empty. Not a single bit of its innards was left. At least the SES light is gone now.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
