Change dashpot settings to drop rpm's faster

I was wondering if any of you have been able to succesfully change the dashpot settings in the computer to make the revs drop quicker. I have done the copper pipe mod but am looking for something with less draw-backs. I tried to get the dealer to do something about it while I was in for the t3650 tsb and they said it was "normal". Any help would be great, thanks.

Did you not read where I said that I had done the copper pipe mod already? I am looking for something that will deal with the idle better when the a/c is turned on etc. I think that dealing with it electronically is the better way to do it. Anyone with a custom tune or chip that has had success with this? Thanks

jstreet,

What kind of custom tune? Do you mean a chip or a programmer? Thanks for the reply, I don't have much experience with this. If this is a chip is it just something you tell them when you order it?

You can get a custom tune with both a chip & programmer. Just tell them you want the daspot adjusted.

So is this something I can change with the predator? sorry to ask so many questions. I am glad that there may be a way to fix this problem the "right" way. If I get a chip which would you recommend, and I would just tell them when I order the chip? Thanks for all of your help.

If that was directed towards me, then I say, "Did you not read the link I posted?" That's not the copper pipe mod, it's the restrictor plate mod. That's exactly what you need to do it the "right way." The problem is your IAC, which is mechanical, so why think you can cure a mechanical problem electronically?

The copper pipe mod and the restrictor plate do the same thing. Restrict the IAC's ability to flow air past the throttle body. The IAC is a mechanical part, but it is contolled electronically by the EEC. This is what the EEC uses to control Idle and is specifically tuned to slow rpm drop. The dashpot settings in the eec can be programmed to fix this correctly without restricting the abilty of the IAC, so that is actually the "right way".

Jstreet is correct. If you take off the iac control valve on the GT motor there is only one inlet on the intake manifold, therefore the copper pipe works just the same the restrictor plate. The mach 1 uses a setup where the iac uses both holes which is why there is a need for the restrictor plate to only block airlflow to one hole and not the other. GT owners who buy the plates on eBay are just wasting their money.

stangGT97,

Try to enlarge the hole in the plate. I live in Chicago where it has been getting very cold at night and I am not having huge problems. I have a 9/32 hoel drilled. It is jerky when cold but that stops after 5 minutes or so of driving.

I believe that my brother doubled his decay rate to drop the RPM's faster. He has a 99 GT with a TwEECer. I was almost positive that he raised it, I'll have to ask. He's the tuning guru of the family.

One of the many reasons why a TwEECer is better than a handheld "tuner."
