Choose my tire size based on this pic

Yeah, another tire thread but this one is straight to the point. Please post your setups as well, with pics.

Click to enlarge. This is with 3/4 tank of fuel and 295/35/18...275/35/18. I have 18x10...18x9

I currently have 315/30s but the sidewall is a little too short for my liking and the front tires need all out replacing so I'm thinking of going with a completely new setup, or reverting back to the above, although I prefer to keep 315s. What are your recommendations of a good match?

I think the 295s look pretty good and 265/40/18 looks to be a close match in sidewall height for the front.

Lets here some opinions.

Technical Mumbo Jumbo:
Current 315/30s are .34 smaller in sidewall height than the 295s above. Only issue is once I jump to 315/35/18 the sidewall will be .28 taller than the pic above. Anyone have a pic of these? Should I just go back to 295/35/18s as they seem to fit well?

I would like to fill the wheel/fender gap without looking stupid with a bunch of rubber.

Is 275 too wide up front for daily driving? I don't Auto-X.

Car is lowered about 1.5" with Steeda Sports.

Keep in mind my 270rwhp turd spins through half of second gear even with the 315s. I have issues with fender contact with both setups but intend to hopefully get them rolled soon.

305/30-18. Traction issues will be a thing of the past and you will wonder why you never went with them in the first place. I've been driving on DR's for 12 years now, and can't stand anything else.

A 305/30/18 tire will have a sidewall .46 smaller than the 295s in the pic. Sidewall is even smaller than my 315/30/18s so that's a no-go.

305/35/18 is .14 taller than the 295s. Possible contestant.

Tires run different. Calculators are ok, but you have to consider rim width as well. If you put a 305/30 on a 10 inch tire, it is going to be different in diameter and height than it would be on an 11 inch tire. Also, different tire brands in the same size are actually different when you go to measure them. Some, quite a bit different.

If you are dead set on looks, then go with what you like. I personally am concerned with 1 thing. And that is performance. You said

BTW, tire width and sidewall has nothing to do with how a tire will hook. I run a 275/40 drag radials at 700rwhp, and dead hook with low 1.6 60ft's. I'll probably run the same tire at 800+rwhp. You need to factor in the compound more than the width.

General Exclaim's. the BEST performance tire i have ever had in terms of doing everything well. super quiet, smooth, hooks well, does ok in the rain and not a bad looking tread design. also priced very well

if mine wasn't as low as it is in the front, i would want a tad thicker sidewall.

On a lowered car, 275s are too much up front. They rub at full lock.

I have settled on 265 / 295 KDW2s being the ideal size on my 18x9, 18x10s. Its perfect, and the KDW2s are amazing. I'd go back to that if I were you. The rears have just the right amount of extra sidewall.

You make a good point and that makes this even more of a pain. I guess I'll just need pics of people with 18x10 wheels and some of the tires mentioned.

What size 265's are you using with your 9" wheel? 265/35s?

Only a $2 different between 275s and 265s. I haven't noticed much rubbing but I haven't looked inside the wheel well either.

I do not notice an issue with 275's in the front. They fill the area well and give amazing traction around corners.

As for the tires, stick with the Nitto 555 series. It's a pretty cheap tire for being performance.

I think I'll stick to 275s since the price difference is minimal and I already know how they look on my car.

Do you think 275/40/18 is too much tire for the front or should I stick with the 35's as shown in the pic above?

My last front tires were BFG KDW1s up front, in 265, and before that Pilot Sports in 275. The 265s fit great but the sidewall was indeed a little small. 275s do have a better looking sidewall.
I have rubbed holes in the inner fender liners. The front of my car used to be more slammed so I guess it could have happened with either tires??

I posted a few recent pics with the 275/295 KDW2s in day in the other the "Recent pics of your car" thread in Talk.

I have The Exclaim UHPs on my Benz. They are a good tire for the cash. Very well priced. They dont stick like the KDW2s though. They seem like a harder compound.
