Hey, I am going to put a new cam into my 302 block for my mustang. The block is pretty basic. Just a plain 302 with .030 bore. Stock compression pistons, etc. I have put on an Edelbrock intake and carb as well as a new distributor and ignition coil. Other things i have done are headers, dual exhaust, and suspension. A friend of mine is giving me a 9inch rearend which I will swap in place of the 8.8 underneath right now.

As for the cam,I am looking for some suggestions on what kind of cam to put into the 302... I want a moderate cam, one that will give me as much performance as possible without rough idling. Brands do not matter, also I think that it will probably have to be a hydraulic cam.

Any help would be appreciated.Thanks

Any other suggestions, like the XE268 or maybe a crane cam. I will NOT be upgrading my stock heads anytime soon BTW.

I'd do 268xe and port your current heads, or just go with the 262xe

Are you saying that if I dont port my heads then I should just skip the 268xe altogether?

And for the Isky cam... Do you have stock heads, and are they ported?

What ever you buy make sure it has about 10* more duration on the exhaust and .020 more lift. Ford exhaust ports need all the help they can get.
