cleaning injectors and openin up stock mass air meter?

Hey whats the best way to freshen up the stock injectors? Can a machine shop open them up and clean them?

also is it possible to take a grinder and open up the stock Mass air a bit??
 
There are shops that can bench clean your injectors. Race shops might, but I don't think this is a standard service at most machine shops.

I would not recommend any grinding on the MAF tube. The diameter of the tube and output of the MAS (the black sensor on top of the MAF) are tuned as a unit by Ford.

If you want a bigger MAF buy a new one.

Nope, it throws off the calibration. The diameter of the MAF and the diameter of the sample tube are tuned to a specific proportion. Opening up the MAF will cause you to run lean
 
Ditto on the MAF. I recall reading in an old magazine that people used to port their MAF's, but the proper thing to do is buy a new one...go Pro-M for a good piece.

As for the injectors, you can pay a shop to do it...not sure how much it will cost or if it is worth it. A quick freshen up of new pintle caps, new O-rings, and a decent fuel additive to clean out the injection system may be a better bet. The additive prices vary, but you can get the rings and caps for less than $5.
 
word, I rebuilt my injectors by getting new pintle caps and all. cost me about 4 bux. you can have the injectors bench cleaned and have the spray pattern checked, etc. don't let them sit though, 'cause when you get them back from teh shop, they have a grease on the inside that gums up. so try to put them in within a day or so of having them done. the race shop near me does them for 20 bucks a pop. Instead of getting them done, I bought a set of bosch 24# (has a good spray pattern) for about the same price.
 
Try using a 94-95 Mustang GT MAF - $40-$100. It is 70 MM instead of the stock 55 MM on regular stangs built prior to 94. It uses a slip on duct on the side that goes to the throttle body and a 4 bolt flange on the other. You need a $25-$35 flange adapter from Pro-M to fit the stock slip on air ducting that goes to the air box. Wiring plugs right in with no changes.

I got a metal flange adapter from Powered by Ford for $35 and tax. That was over a year ago. Summit Racing may also have one too.

I have seen this posted before, but some recent discussions here have revealed some issues with changing the MAF/MAS in this manner.
It is unclear as to how the MAS voltage output of the 70mm unit would compare to the output of the 55mm unit.

Are you running this combo?
I am curious how it is performing.
Do you have any other mods that would affect the KAMRF numbers; fuel injectors, intake, TB etc?

I would like to try this out and data log the change with the tweecer. Other than measuring the diameter, is there an easy way to id a 70mm maf/mas unit?
I assume they can be found on more than just Mustangs?

Also it seems that the adapter is a hard to find piece so what some people have posted is that they used a hacksaw to cut off the flange and then hooked it up with a rubber connector the way you would with any other maf.

See my sig for a current list of mods. I am using the 19 lb, 4 hole explorer injectors .I have been running the 70 MM MAF for over 2 years. It works great, no problems. The minor differences between the 94-95 computer and the 89 computer MAF curves seem to be swallowed up by the adaptive nature of the computer. I run the 94-95 MAF & MAF sensor as a unit.
