clutch advice for a STOCK 95 GT

what clutch came stock in my 95 GT?? king cobra or heavy duty?? and what clutch should i put back in???? keep in mind the car is stock and a daily driver??, and will always be a daily driver, I have a mustang that is moded and dont need 2

i put a centerforce back in my 95. little pricey but so far well worth it. and if you plan on ever doing any upgrades later on, you will already have the clutch for it.

I have a very mild bolt on car right now, if you can even call it that, but I plan to do a KC later this month since I read it will hold 300 HP, I am a ways off from that and don't anticipate exceeding it for at least a couple years.

If you plan to stay with the T5 and stay basically stock HD or KC are both good choices from what I have read over the years on this forum...

forgot to mention the pedel feel on the centerforce II is just about right. doesnt wear your leg out. the KC clutch is a bit too stiff for my liking. especially in a lot of traffic

I'd get a stock clutch. Make sure it's a Ford clutch, and not from Autozone, etc. D&D has real good prices. Also make sure to change the pilot bearing while you're at it, and the rear main seal if it's seeping any oil at all.
BTW, the stock clutch is not a HD, king cobra or even a cobra. I believe the only difference between the cobra and GT are the material used on the clutch disc; same pressure plate.

I bought the HD and had to change it again 15,000 miles later. I installed a Spec stage II and it was much easier to drive and lasted a lot longer(20k+ when I switched to the TKO trans).

Just FYI, the clutch disc still looked great when I changed the HD, so it was the pressure plate that was fubar'd.

You need nothing more than a cheap/proven king cobra or motorsport HD. I ran a motorsport HD in my car for over 50k miles ZERO issues. Only reason I removed it was because I swapped in a tremec tko. Invest in an aftermarket quadrant and firewwall set up

IMHO for a daily driver nothing even comes close to the driveability and longevity of the stock clutch. If you go to an aftermarket unit, you'll be disappointed.

no, the hd is not stock.....my only suggestion as far as getting a stock clutch is to pay a visit to the dealership.

Don't go to the dealer for a clutch, you'll get raped. D&D has good prices, go to their website www.ddperformance.com or better yet call them (you can get their ph# on the website).

Exactly. I would personally go for a King Cobra, if only for the reduced pedal weight.

The HD is a sturdier, but since you're staying stock you don't need it anyway.

get the crappiest clutch you can find that way it will break before your t-5 does. better to change a $100 something dollar part than a 1200 something dollar part. t-5's suck. I'm so depressed having to drive around going from first to third gear cause second is broken. t-5's suck.

Another vote to not get a HD clutch on a stocker, if you drive in traffic much. The KC should hold up just as well and will save your leg a little.

My t-5 does all right for having 110k on it, no grinding YET. The guy I bought it from said he put a KC at 90k, It's time for new clutch so bought A new KC. I was hard on it so was the last owner!

i dont think i have to worry about the t-5 my wife has 170.000 on the original never worked on t-5

Go with the stock clutch.To much clutch will give you problems down the road.If your car is stock and stands to remain that way,no need to up anything.
