clutch cable

today while driving i was shifting in to 2nd gear and the clutch just gave out since the clutch has been working fine i thought it might be the cable i look a look under and the cadle is not conected to the piece in the side of the trany
does this mean the cable broke i mean it felt like it broke all how hard is it to replace is there any steps need help also thinking of adding a adjustable cable is that hard
please help this is the only car i have know

it's pretty easy to do. if you still have the stock quadrant, which is a semicircular shaped piece behind the clutch pedal, now is a good time to get it replaced. if it's plastic, replace it for a metal
one. I would recommend getting the maximum motorsports package with the clutch cable, firewall adjuster and quadrant. their cable is designed to be durable and adjustable from the firewall adjuster rather than the cable itself which is better. installing a quadrant is probably the hardest part, but if you just want to install the cable all it takes is just unhooking it and rebooking a new one.

theres this cable in latemodel restoration its a Adjustable Clutch Cable its like 30 buks will this work this is wat it says /Our extreme-duty adjustable clutch cable allows for exact adjustment of clutch pedal position at the threaded adjustable clutch fork end. / will this cable work im just looking to replace it but will this one be adjustable

Yeah that's the one I use. It's not adjustable at the firewall, you need to crawl under the car for the adjustment. But, I adjusted it once when I installed it, and I've had no reason to touch it since.

The quadrant needs to be replaced if you use any type of aftermarket cable or adjuster. My preference is a Ford Racing quadrant, adjustable cable and Steeda firewall adjuster. The adjustable Ford Racing cable is just a good as the stock OEM cable. It allows a greater range of adjustment than a stock cable with a aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster. Combined with the Steeda adjuster, it lets you set the initial cable preload and then fine tune the clutch engagement point to your liking without getting under the car.

Using a stock OEM cable and a single hook quadrant may result in not having any free pedal travel before the clutch starts to disengage. I found this out the hard way.
