clutch pedal quadrant ?

Took on a project stang a few weeks ago 1980 with a 5.0. Now trying to find out WTF these people did to this thing.

It is a 5.0 swap from a 4cyl they put a 5.0 with a FMX POS. Tranny was a manual. So I'm putting a t5 in to replace the POS. The clutch pedal is there but it looks like they ripped out the quadrant and *****. Now I have no idea whats going on under there.

I bought a steeda kit w/the quadrant cable and adjuster is there anything else that's needed for this? Or any decent pics I can look at the pics that I find are horrible and can't see really of anything. Ive had the car on stands for 2 weeks now and starting to piss me off cuz I'm missing out on drive time with it.

I might be over thinking this really bad. I haven't got the kit yet so haven't tried to put it in.

So let me know if I'm just being retarded or if I'm actually missing something.

You can see if Jeremy's clutch-cable page is up (useful tech sticky). I think he also has a lot of the trans stuff from that article on a thread on foureyedpride or slantnose IIRC.

The quadrant will just slide onto the two poles, possibly with spacers on each side. Then hairpins keep it all on the shaft. It's pretty simple. You'll probably need to remove a ruber grommet where the cable goes through the firewall (to make room for the FWA). You'll want to route the cable in a nice loop, away from the headers.

You might also want to get a cable retention clip for the cable (bell housing end). They're a couple of bucks at the dealership.

Are saying that that plastic/nylon adjuster under the dash by the pedal is gone?
If thats what you mean then yes it should be. When you go with an adjustable clutch cable then you lose that piece. This is of course if I am following what you mean. Allergies are killing my sinuses and cant read clearly with my head feeling like it will explode.

That's exactly what I wanted to look at but it feels like that whole arm is gone. I will look again when I get home but I almost swear that arm isn't there.

It looks like its welded on in the pic. What the hell do I do if its gone? Where can I buy one? Assuming it is even removable.

It looks like they tried to take the pedal out but the floor vent was in their way so they just shoved the pedal under the carpet. I can pull the pedal from side to side like a full inch if not more.

This is racking my brain and really making me mad now.

LOL I work at a junk yard. Any 80's Ford should work right? Or will it have to be a stang. We don't have any here and would hate to go to a competitor for a part ha ha.

Tried to look at my truck but its hydraulic in the truck.

Ok well that lever isn't there. Here is the end where the quadrant should go. It looks like they took it off. God these people should not have been working on cars. How can I fix this? I'm about 2 seconds away from pulling the motor and tranny buying a 87-93 rolling chassis and taking the 80 down to work and crushing it.

What is that lever called? Please help as you have already helped alot and I thank you.

Just to be clear - that arm is over the gas pedal.

just get another pedal box if you need to.

check ebay, CL, post ad in classifieds here. check it all out youre bound to find it. Dont crush the 80.

Thats odd..kinda looks like just the pedal is missing. My nut on there came loose and cause me alot of stress (in my mind) till I figured out it was just a loose nut. If that is the factory pedal assembly, the early ones are different from the 87-93 ones. They are also a lil cheaper.The 79-81 uses a really different one and I don't think you can use the aftermarket quadrant on it. You can use a Fairmont, Capri (don't take parts off of those though..I'm saving those cars) and others. I'd do a 87-93 part.

will a 87-93 pedal assembly fit? If so & you want one...PM me, I have one in my 91 notch. I am SLOWLY parting it out. it already has an aluminum quadrant installed. I also have a cable & the adjustable firewall piece...all three parts have less than 1,500mi on them... lmk if you are interested...

I think for the mean time while I wait for a pedal box I'm going to fab up my own lever that will fit a quadrant. There is only a 30 day warranty on this T5 I bought so I want to get this thing driving to make sure It's all good.

Seems like someone is converting from auto to manual fairly regularly and if you're actually fabbing parts up... a progress thread would be sweet!

Sure I can do that but this fab won't be pretty it's going to be enough to last like 2 to 3 weeks till I get a real setup. Just gotta make sure that tranny is in good working order before the warranty is up.

Ok here's what I got. It will work for now till I get the right pedal box. I had to cut a chunk out of the box so the quad can turn at its full.

I should have took pics before I put it back in but didn't think of it.
