clutch question

i tried to adjust my clutch by the pedal and now the pedal feels like it has to much play in it and i'm having trouble putting the car in gear. there is no grinding its just a little harder then before.

How exactly did you "adjust" it?

with the car off and in 1st gear i pulled up on the clutch pedal and then pushed it down to the floor.

Well that would be the proper method for a stock setup. Not sure why it would have the effect you describe though. Did the pedal make a clicking or racheting noise when you pulled it up?

Do you still have the stock adjuster? or did you or someone else put in an adjustable clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster?

My clutch got like that when I loosened the firewall adjuster trying to get the clutch to grab down low. There is lots of play in the pedal and when I went too far the car wouldnt go into gear well.. Too tight and I started slipping it bad at the track.

If it is the stock set up then you probably broke a tooth on the cheap plastic adjuster. I would put in the adjustable one.
